Everyone is flipping out that something new is coming out on a 18 month product cycle. But most OEMs don't just try to do a cash grab just because it's shiny after 18 months. It'll be better by their metric. But better for YOU is another matter. Whether it's better is subjective. After a fitting, then you'll know.

Love both the G400 LST and G400 Max, but if they are bringing out something better... I'll take it!

Always interested in new Ping gear. But if it's just an incremental update, I'll likely stick with the G400 Max.

I just put the G400 max in my bag last week. It easily kicked the Rogue sub zero to the curb.

Played down in Myrtle beach the last 4 days, every time I would pipe one (which this driver loves to do), I would say to the boys; "Dragonfly technology fellas, get used to it".

    Great club.

I understand the G400 Max isnt being replaced, but the new G400 replacement is going to have to be better than the Max or why would anyone bother. Currently gaming the Max and I find it hard to believe any driver could be better.

Well.. this thread helped confuse my rep :P. I asked about the adapters and found out that they are indeed changing. He was like "i was literally in the meeting finding out about this.. how the **** man!" (he didn't share any details but i asked some questions that were loosely confirmed, more lie angle settings will be available)

I much prefer the look of the 445cc head so hopefully the new G400 isn't Max size.

I was at a Ping demo earlier this week and the rep told me to hold out until February for the G400 replacement since I already have a G400 but wanted a different loft.

I prefer the look of the 445 head too as I had a G400 LST, but looks are second to performance for me and the MAX beats the smaller head hands down.

I think you're buying into the marketing too much. The tech in 18 month cycles will be marginally better at best. You're essentially splitting hairs. They release on an 18 month cycle because the decline in sales #s starts at around the 11th month and drops more significantly over time. It's consumer behavior metrics that drive the release patterns, not game-changing tech. if anything, the're more inclined to withhold tech advances because of these consumer metrics. Once every so often a product comes out that is somewhat revolutionary.

Take Titleist for example on a very general level...The 905R, 910 and new TS line will be the game changers for them. everything in between was/is merely just to re energize consumers.

That picture is the G400 from the back, the vortex is at the back, upper half is the back of the crown, and the bottom half is the sole of the club.

  • I never gave equipment that much credit in improving golf play but... The G400 LST changed my driving game so much I still dont believe it. I still suck but sucking less was achieved I might tinker with shafts but that head is staying put.

The G400lst has been a total and complete game changer for my driving game
