Most 3-Putts In a round

Had one of my better ball striking days of the season so far today. Hit 10 fwys and 6 greens, but missed 4 fairways by a combined total of about 20 feet, and 4 greens by about 10 yds combined. That said......I had 5.....FIVE.....F-I-V-E 3-PUTTS!!

The crazy thing is, I wasn't hitting bad putts, but I've been playing Honey Bee, a local course I really enjoy, and their greens are REEEEEALLY slow compared to the greens I played at VB National this morning, which were as fast as I've ever seen them. They just had the club's 2-man championship over the weekend, and it must have been tough, bc they were slick!

I was hitting putts right on the edge, and instead of dying near the cup they were rolling out to 6-8 feet and the comebackers were tough too. Shot 89, but it shoulda been 82 at least. Frustrating morning!

So what's the most 3-jacks you've ever had in one round? Someone make me feel better about myself, please!

This year I had one round with 6 3 putts. The greens were quick and I knew it, but still wasn't smart enough to leave my approach below the hole. That is the most I can remember at this time, I'm sure there have been rounds with more.

Yea, I knew they were quick, but i couldn't convince myself to hit it softer. I don't know what the heck the deal was. Usually I'm a guy who "dies" the ball into the hole, but today everything was around the cup and lipped out, but the pace was just way off all day.

OK here's my bid - 41 putts in a round with 7 three putts...…………..finishing 5 over for the round

16 greens in regulation getting up and down on both of the two missed and two or three putted every other hole.

It got so bad that I honestly thought about missing greens on purpose to try to sneak up on the hole, I just had zero control of the putter, it's a terrible feeling.

I got trapped with the "well, 3 putted last hole, so better get aggressive and make up for it with a 1 putt here" idea that rattles around my head far too often. I'm usually similar with the "dies" it in the hole style of putting. I had some misplaced confidence that just built up and I kept going for it.

This year I shot +6 at a local course while having

    40 putts.

    5 3putts

    12/14 Fairways Hit

    15/18 Greens In Regulation

    0/3 Scrambles

Definitely was one of my best Tee to Green games ever...putting on the other hand lol. Could not stop blasting it by the hole and not being able to make the come back putt.

Pro thought we wanted mini-golf for the final round of the Club Championship today- I had 2 four putts and at least that many 3 putts. Could have been worse...one guy in my group had a 9 putt from the fringe and another had a 6 putt on the same hole. We were in the final group and I suspect that others did worse.

2018 three 3 putts in 18 holes this year, have hit that about 5 times this year.

Two rounds ago I also had five 3-putts, followed it up with four 3-putts in my most recent round. Progress! The funniest part is that I made a 30+ footer in one round (to win the long-putt pot) and a ~60 footer in the other round. Inconsistent is a generous term for my recent putting.

Thing is, I checked my stats in the grint. In 3 of my last 5 rounds I had ZERO 3 putts. I mean I'm not the best putter you've ever seen, but generally I can get down in 2 with a decent lag and a gimme length comebacker or tap-in. Another chance at redemption on Saturday. We'll see how it goes!

As anyone who plays with me knows - I hate doubles, 3-chucks (as well as food at the turn and too many towels).

Two weeks ago I played 18 holes and had (4) 3-putts. It was a very strange day.

I hit 10 greens but was either too far away for a legit bird, or above the hole (out of position).

All of my chucks that day occurred from above the hole.

Nine 3-putts last month. On the best course in my country, and my long game was really good (for me). The greens were much faster than I’m used to, and after missing putts on the first holes I got hesitant. Afraid to putt too hard and roll off the greens, I left a lot of long putts 5 to 10 feet short.

Nonetheless I had a great day and won 2&1.

It's not the 51 already stated upthread, but I did have 44 putts one day last year. I was a absolute head case by halfway through the round. I am a 2 who averages 30 putts, so yeah......

I had 6 today in the first round of the club championship. I have a 6 handicap and still managed 81. What a disheartening feeling standing over a putt with zero confidence.

6 three putts today, plus a four-putt that was actually more like a 5-putt:

On the second hole, short par 4, I hit maybe the best drive of my life, dead straight onto the fringe, 2 yards off the green and had 25 yards to the pin. Took 5 putts, including the one from the fringe. 43 putts total, excluding 3 from just off the green.

From tee to green I had an excellent round, and even with 36 putts I would have easily beaten my handicap.

I play with two state amateur champions, brothers Andy and Bill. I have played more golf with Andy than Bill. Believe it or not, I have NEVER witnessed a 3-putt from Andy. He is not long off of the tee but very accurate. From 100-yards in, he is among the best that I have played with. But the true differential with Andy is his putter. His +3 handicap looks effortless, but hours of work on his short game is the key.

Now, back to your question: I three-putted four times in a state qualifier years ago at Wyantenuck Country Club. Wyantenuck is located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts (Berkshires). The mountains confused me, to say the least.

    8x 3 putts yesterday. Had a stretch of 5 x 3 putts in a row.

I generally hit my come back 3-5 footers a bit firm and I was 0-6 yesterday hitting every piece of the cup.

Four of them yesterday. Typically a three putt is fairly rare for me (that’s more do to smaller, simpler greens than my ability) but me distance control has been poor lately and I’m seeing more of them. 14 GIR yesterday (that number usually results in at least a couple under for the day) but 35 putts (including three consecutive lip outs on birdie putts inside 10’) led to a very dissapointing 76.

Had four 3-putts last Sunday, but in my defense the greens were recently aerated and sanded. I couldn't hit the ball hard enough most of the time, and I even had a couple 2-footers hit a bump or two and move offline. Drove me bonkers, but it is what it is when greens are aerated I guess.

I think my record worst was nine 3-putts in one round (total of 42 putts), and that was probably 5-6 years ago.

I think mine is 7, including 5 on the front nine, but it might have been 6 and one 4-putt. It was during a spell of golf when I would regularly have four or five 3-putts a round.

What is worse is my record for Out-of-Bounds in a round: 7. It was a tight course, and I had the hooks. I ended up with a MUCH higher score then.

I played a course in the Rockies and ended up using my first putt as a general guideline for the following putts. I know "they break away from the mountain" but this was in a valley and there were mountains all around. Luckily, the greens were also big and very fast. I still had hair at that distant time, but it began to thin after that. Hmmm ....
