Fujikura TR shaft reviews???

cbm

Recommended Posts

Are you talking about the Speeder TR?

This is one shaft that has been very popular on the men's pro tour in Japan. It's marketed as a mid-low flight/low spin shaft that is soft in the handle, stiff in the mid section and softer in the tip. Looking forward to giving this shaft a try when Fujikura does a demo day in my neck of the woods. You can find some info and the specs here.

14 Beaten and Battered clubs,

a few balls and tees,

tattered golf bag and

one unwavering spirit that loves the game

Based on your comments, it sounds like this is really similar to the Whiteboard 63/73/83 and potentially Tour AD BB.

Titleist TSi3 10* (at 9.25*) w/ Tour AD DI 6X
Titleist TSR2 15* w/ Tour AD MJ 8X
Titleist TSR2 18* Hybrid w/ Fuji Atmos Blue Tour Spec 8X

Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 3 iron w/ KBS Tour V S HS'd
Titleist 716CB 4-P w/ DG AMT TI X100 SS'd
Vokey SM7 Slate Blue 54.10 (1* strong) and 58.08 with Onyx DGTI S400
PING PLD Anser D 35"

2021 ProV1 or Left Dash ProV1x (or random other tour quality balls LOL)

Where's your neck of the woods? :)

Note: I personally use the TR 661 X and it is phenomenal. A few guys in the office do as well. It is lowwwww spin for a shaft that has some feel in both the handle and tip. I tipped it 1/2" and it never goes left. I hit center face more than most products of ours I've tried in awhile...not more than our 2019 release though!

Heard this shaft has been really popular on the PGA Tour as well. Might have to give it a look as well.

It's definitely gaining momentum based on the Darrel Reports. More than we expected. A handful in play each week, one player has in both driver and fairway.

Let's just say that I'm in the same time zone as Fujikura Composites and the demo day is coming at the end of the month. Looking forward to trying this shaft out and I hope that it picks up some traction in the US market. By all means, it looks like you have a winner with this one, but perhaps an uphill battle due to the glut of so many great shafts out at this time.

I've played Fuji shafts for 20+ years now and can honestly say for me the TR series is the best Fuji shafts ever! Have TR 569 in the driver and TR 661 in the 3wood for a couple months now and they are the real deal.

Great to hear, and I agree. Thanks for the feedback.

Is it fair to call this the successor to the Speeder Evo II (the copper colored one)?

Sounds Like i May have to Give up my Tour ADs and Throw the new 661 in the bag... But Tipped an Inch of course.... ;)

So, I gave the TR a try this weekend. It's definitely a firmer feel than the Evo 2 in the hands. Not harsh, just firmer. I had a hard time getting the feel for the shaft and had a 2 way miss going for most of the day yesterday, which could be either me or the shaft to be honest. I was kind of bummed and wanted this to be more of an updated version of the 2, but for me it's no bueno. I played the 661S for reference. My buddy hit it a couple of times on the range and seemed kind of dead. So, maybe for a player with a stronger release at the bottom. We both tend to be more of a medium release with a medium transition. Hope this helps.

I've been playing the Fuji Atmos Black 7TX in the 917D3 for a while now and it's been arguably the best setup I've had in terms of distance and playability. My pros were that it went really straight and made awful swings look great. The cons were it went high and spun bad on off-center misses. I haven't been fit outdoors in a neutral, non-OEM biased setting in a while so I went to Cool Clubs to get fit. I tried various drivers but the Fuji TR won out. It not only felt the best, but the #'s and dispersion were the best. I've literally never heard of this shaft but I have it in hand now and will get it built.

Anyways, here are my numbers (not normalized, but with new range balls - hence why smash factor is low) - we also left my misses in on both (low on the face/high spinners)

Here's the TR7 in the M3 - the M3 was the best, but TS3 is more familiar to me, so I'm going with the TS3.

Thank you for posting your results and feedback on TR. Nice to see our friends at Cool Clubs got you dialed in. Did you get fit at their IRvine location with Josiah or Chris? Impressive drop in spin and increase in carry over your ATMOS gamer, wow.

Man the TR numbers in the M3 are awesome! I get sticking with familiarity but those were legitimate gains with the M3.
