Schedule (from RyderCup.com)

Day 1: Tuesday

The teams get their first opportunity to practice on the hallowed turf of Le Golf National, before some of the most famous names from sport & entertainment take to the fairways in The Ryder Cup Celebrity Match, which tees off at 2pm from the first tee.

Day 2: Wednesday

While the players ramp up their practice on the course, Wednesday also sees the future stars of the game, play in one of the games newest formats, as The Junior Ryder Cup teams take part in Golf Sixes at The Ryder Cup.

Day 3: Thursday

The last chance for the players to practice, before the much-anticipated opening ceremony and the pairings for Friday are announced. All of this will be followed by the Ryder Cup concert.

Day 4: Friday

The first day of competition and a bucket-list moment for sports fans. Nothing in golf can compare to the atmosphere of a Ryder Cup first tee and that’s followed by a day full of fierce fourball and foursomes competition between some of the world’s best golfers.

Day 5: Saturday

Competition is now in full flow, with both teams desperate to ensure they take a strong position into the final day. Fans will be able to witness a full day of great match-play action as the players take part in the second day of fourball and foursomes matches.

Tournament thread ERS - early release syndrome. Teams aren't even complete yet for heaven's sake.

A few significant tournaments to be played yet.

    But this one is first!

    My early take ...

    > too many contrived holes with artificial lakes

    > no driveable par 4? I hope they tweak one hole to make this happen ... late in the back 9 preferably

    > only 3 par 5's blows IMO. Last par 5 is the 14th ... argghh

    > a strange mix of design styles with rolling "fescue" to the sides and big man made lakes. It's like Scotland had a baby with SE Florida

I think it is great they took it to France and should look at other Euro countries going forward as well

"hallowed turf of Le Golf National"??????????????????

I thought the course might actually be in Louis XIV's back yard. It's close, just a little south of Versailles.

Played the course off the white, not back tees a few weeks ago. A real premium on driving. The rough is brutal. And distance control into the greens will be critical. 13th may be moved forward to make it driveable....but narrow entrance and water at the front so very high tariff. Fairways are best I have ever played off. Should be a fantastic spectacle.

    "The Ryder Cup concert" lol.

This event is so far up its **** that I can scarcely even believe it. I bet back in the day, say in 1981, Nicklaus and Trevino et all arrived in Europe on a Tuesday or Wednesday, had a couple of practice rounds and then got down to business. No concert, no WAGs, no junior Ryder Cup, none of this extraneous bilge. I'd love to know whose grand idea all of this is, my guess is Europe's. This thing is much more important to them.

Will be there from Friday to Sunday, will try to post pictures.

Not my favorite place to golf in France, location is at the very best just so-so, but the track should be a real golf test if the rough is still alive. If you play there a regular sunday morning foursome without marshalls and public to tell you whre your ball migh be, if your drive is not on the fairway, you have to play a provisionnal...

    Good choices.

Zach will be the standard vice captain.

Kuchar's job is to keep Phil in line.

Duval is there to go on Golf Channel and put the smackdown on Brandel as events warrant.

Because the auto-qualifiers were locked in after the PGA. He didn’t get any points for his last 2 wins.

Meh, the dude's 24, just won two tournaments in a row, and is clearly very excited about this. I like the excitement.
