2019 Ping Plans

I'll be in the market for new irons in the coming months but won't be making any decisions until I have an update on a 2nd gen iblade. Has anyone heard anything on these? I know they're positioned for a 2019 release, but no info on any specs.

Ping trademarked the iblade 2.0 so I'd be hard pressed to believe they're history.

I don’t care what they release for an iron set as long as it’s bladey and black.

I am not in the golf industry but have been a long time ping user and fan. Am I imagining it or are they coming out with more models than usual and with greater frequency? I don't remember them having so many different sets in the past.

They used to be on a 2yr cycle. Now it’s been 18 months for a while now.

I think what throws people is they will release say the g400 series in July 2017 but then in Jan 2018 you get the 400 Max. More less an extension to the line rather than a replacement.

I hope they figure the sound on their irons. They have not been very good. The driver, fairway and hybrid were really good. Just can’t look at the crown...

Good point. I think the total irons is okay, but the categories aren’t correct. I think they could have gone with two players irons (iBlade and i500) two mid irons (i210 and something else) and one game improvement (g410).

It makes sense because the G700 and i500 are really their own thing. They are hollow distance irons which almost seems to be a mandatory new category to have. I see lots of guys buying these.

    i agree

1x SGI which they have never had before but are hugely popular (G700)

1x GI which is always a must (G400 to soon be 410)

    1x traditional players iron (i210)

1x distance players iron to take on the TMB, P760 etc also to allow for mixed bags which are a huge thing ATM

1x blade which again has always been hugely popular

    Ping definitely does things right!

My view is they need to retain some of their industrial looking stuff. The G400 passes that test, but if 410 turns out shiny and hollow I will take it very personally as a sell out!

Agree with your summary and categories, but I remember the good old PING days from a simpler time:
    • GI = G series
    • Player's cavity = i series
    • Tour = s series

Though I completely understand why PING is breaking into new categories and introducing new products. They have to compete in those respective iron markets.

Agree. I like the look of the G25/G30 more than the G/G400. I was hoping to see a GMax iron replacement, but this seems unlikely with the G700s.

It also seems like Ping keeps making the G series a bit more "playable" with reduced offset. The difference isn't much but I hope they don't keep ratcheting it down.

I've had my share of Ping and on my wish list is something close in size to G700 but with i500 offset.

Sorry, but that iron will never exist. You want a head the size of a garbage can but the offset of a blade?

Love my iBlades, before I got them I was able to demo everything in the lineup and the iBlade gave me the best results, now, I am in Afghanistan and have not been able to demo any new equipment, I will be going home for Christmas and will get to hit them, then compare to the iBlade.
