Just yesterday went -6 on front for 30 and 3 over back for 38. My personal best is 4 under... not impressed to say the least.

44-30 at Windermere GC in Cumming, GA and 45-31 at Legacy GC in Florida.

The first one happened many moons ago. I don't remember much other than I just got hot with everything. I remember I just got back into the game and had just started taking lessons again and after the front nine I called to reserve a lesson...then I figured it all out and shoot 30 on the back nine (which isn't easy there). Then I remember going to the lesson a couple of days later and we worked on my putting because my swing had really come along. It would have been interesting to see what in the world I was doing with my swing on the front nine.

The second happened at a Florida Mid-Am qualifier. I actually shot the 45 on the back nine...which I played first. The adrenaline was kicking into overdrive. On the first hole (10th hole), we played from the back tees and I took, what felt like a very easy swing, and flew the fairway bunker on the left with ease..something I have never come close to doing. Then a couple of holes later I had my perfect club for me and flush it and it's 20 yards short.

But the big thing was I had the yips from short distance. I shoot 31 on the back (front nine) with 2 bogeys. I bogeyed my 10th hole and then started to drop putts, one after another. I eagled the par-5 4th hole. I yipped a 2-footer to make bogey on my 15th hole and made a 30-footer on my 17th hole for birdie and a 20-footer to save par on my 18th hole. I missed the cut by 1-stroke. I felt completely off kilter the entire day.

44 out for a +9 off a handicap of 9 at the time and shot a gross 4 under back nine for a 32. Gross 76 off of 9 and two completely different halves..

I usually said to myself back then and still do to this day if I drop too many shots too early I'll reassess my goals and make a new goal of trying to stay inside the buffer and keep the 0.1 at bay...

    Everything went wrong

    Went into i don’t give a s....mode

Qualified for whatever tournament playing in

It’s not uncommon to have 6-10 stroke differences

    I went 31-44 once. Birdied 6

Holes in a row on the front and that 31 included bogeys on 1 and 9. Definitely got in my head on the back thinking I’d be under par for my first time ever to end up shooting 75 (+4). Had a 40-33 round round as well.

I believe it was 47-33. And that was with a group that was playing double bogey max.

    32 to 42.

I'm sure this is going to sound crazy, but I played so well on the front that I didn't care if I played the back. I know that's not the mentality to have, but it's the truth.

I shot 40-32 (+4,-4) for an even par 72 still my best round ever. Oh what could have been...

Put up this beauty (55-37) at Pacific Dunes last month. Admittedly a bit hungover to start the round.

    Stableford

    Front 9 : 10 points

    Back 9 : 22 points

The stroke differential would have been bigger but I picked up on several holes

Two weekends ago I carded 46-34.. Made a 10 on a par 5. I just laughed it off and went into the next 9 knowing I could make it up.

Shot a smooth 51-37 last year. I actually drove the ball better on the front but had 3 chip ins on the back.

Shot a 47-36 a couple years ago on a par 72 course. If I hadn't woke up around hole number 8, I might of seen a triple digit score on my card.

I told myself a long time ago that if I ever shot in the 90's, I would quit the game.

    Many years ago, I was playing in a one-day weekend tournament. Course was 35 + 35 = 70.

My group played back nine first, and I shot a 49. This included a 10 on the only par 5. On other side I shot a 39, getting better drives and some one-putts along the way.

    So, 49 + 39 = 88 (Nope, I didn't win)

Our course is a Par 70 with Par being 34 front and 36 back. I have shot 30 - 40 a couple of times for even par. The front is much easier than the back.. but still frustrating.

I can't say exactly what my largest variation is between the front 9 and back 9, and its been a while, but easily at least 10 strokes. Maybe even a little more.

I've certainly had quite a few jekyl and hyde rounds over 45 years.

It might me that I have hard worse but the one that sticks in my head is from last summer. Out in 9 over, with 7 bogeys and one double, genuinely looking like i had never played the game in my life. Level par on the back 9 without every getting into trouble...stupid game!

Played yesterday.... Been a REALLY long winter here and late fall I had an injury that kept me off the course so really only my second round since October. Shot 38 on the front and felt pretty good about it. Back 9... I could NOT get the ball anywhere near the hole. I'd miss the green and then chip/pitch the ball 20+ feet past the flag or leave it short of the green. I found myself trying to get up and down for bogey on 5 holes... That plus hitting my second shot on 18 (a par 5) into a evergreen tree and having to take an unplayable that left me completely blocked out (I made an 8).... I shot 49. My worst score on 9 holes in over 10 years.

38-49. 87 on a Par 72. Hoping today goes better.....

I usually shoot better on the front 9 than the back. Jack and coke at the turn is quite tasty but is no help at all.

Had an even front, +12 back yesterday. Couldn't catch a break! Early season but there was some promise there.
