Honma TW747 drivers

Just saw this on the USGA Conforming list for Honma Tour World 747. Glad to see they have returned to making these in Japan and offering adjustable version heads. The only thing that troubles me is there is another version of both the 455 and 460 model which isn't designated Made in Sakata. I suspect these are China heads which will be sold in the US;(

Honma makes awesome equipment, but is long overdue in adopting driver adjustability. I had a TW717 and it was so high quality and a great performer. Not sure why, but most of the Japanese drivers are sans adjustable.

Agreed, seems late to the party and a bit odd. I get the UPright and FLat settings but can't figure out what OP and CL stands for.

Face angle maybe? OPen CLosed

Ah yes, gotta be it.

Looking forward to trying these out. I'm kind of surprised this has been under the radar but I'm sure this will make news once Justin is announced.

The 455 is a very good looking driver behind the ball. The 460 is more forgiving though. Sound and feel on both is great.

Heard a "rumor" that another top 10 OWGR player is also making the leap to Honma. Could be a TM guy with Mark King's pull, not sure. We'll see what happens... that move would make a huge splash for this company though.

Rumor is Justin Rose.

My guess is Casey or Reed as they have been gaming a few Honma clubs start of this season..

I think Rose winning in his second start with Honma is validation to them. He outdrove Adam Scott and Rahm in the final round, both great drivers gaming the best Titleist and TM can provide them with.

For me, currently gaming the 737TW 445, the Honmas just seems to roll out more than most drivers. It wasn't the longest of the bunch, but it never goes left and it had the tightest dispersion. I have been driving the ball better with it, but still the weakest area of my game.

I'm thinking/assuming it will most likely be Casey as well, eventually if/when anything happens. Never know with Reed, possible. I couldn't get the "source" to spill the beans or give any other info back when I talked to him. For what it's worth, I know the guy and he's a Honma employee, so it's not like I was talking to someone's cousin Eddie. Who knows, we'll see what happens.

I have TW737 455. My experience is exactly the same as yours; awesome roll and tight dispersion. It has bit closed face so I lay the head slightly behind at stance but the result is darn good. Along with Mizuno driver, it is awfully overlooked.

I don't think they're in stores yet but anyone actually try the TW747 drivers yet?

Driver is a beast in disguise. If you want blistering drives down the fairway, low spinning shots, and balls that come off face of a driver like an anti-ballistic missile, TW-747. In my bag after demo, and oh my goodness that is all I can say.

That's great to hear! So does yours have "Made in Sakata" on the hosel?

To clear up all the speculation if the heads were sourced in China. No! On hosel made in Sakata

What loft are you using? Did you compare it against any or all of the 2019 offerings?

Finally got to demo these drivers and they did not disappoint. Great feel and look at address. I prefer the shape of the 460 but size of the 455. Not surprisingly, the 455 cut out more spin for me and relatively still forgiving. The only reason I didn't walk out with one is I wanted to see if they were going to offer the FD-6 shaft option they have in Japan. The shop said not to hold my breath because most likely it won't be offered here in the US. So now I wait and see if I can get the 455 with the FD-6 shaft or just go with the 460 with stock offering and try moving up in flex. Have no idea their adjustable hosel will be available to the public.
