The cheaper urethanes

I have been enjoying the offerings from Taylor Made and Srixon over the last few weeks, namely the Project (a) and the AD333 Tour - UK names.

Ball feel is difficult to describe but and personal however these two both have great feel around the greens, which is something I am now searching for having developed some consistency. Long and straight off the tee too, when hit appropriately. Significantly cheaper than the Pro V / TP / Chrome soft and with the urethane cover missing from the tour soft. Well worth a look

I'm a handicap golfer in my 50's. Any opinions I have about golf equipment or professional golfers or the game in general should be taken as seriously as you would the opinions of a random guy in the fourball ahead of you who just shot 92 but is usually better than that.

You might want to check out the Snell balls, the MTB Red and Black. In the US, Snell balls are on the order of 60% of the price of ProV1s, I'd bet they offer similar cost savings in the UK now that they're offered there. Dean Snell worked for Titleist when the original ProV1 ball was developed, then spent a bunch of years at Taylormade working on golf ball design. I know there's a long thread in GolfWRX about the Snell balls. In my experience, these are every bit the equal to the ProV1.

MG golf balls. I'll never buy another $4 ball again. I'm kicking myself for not finding these sooner.

Dude. Give Maxfli Ufli Soft a shot. They're pretty great, and if you catch a sale, you're getting a heck of a deal.

Found some at Dicks for $19.97 a dozen in my local Dicks, but according to the Dicks website they are only available online. Might be changing them to another ball

Also another vote for the Mg C4. plus Kig3 if you got a Costco membership.

Remember, gentlemen, the OP lives in England. His options may not be the same as we have in the US

I would recommend Vice balls then. They're shipped from Germany and they're as good as any.

Definitely Vice Pro/Pro Soft or the QStar Tour (which might be the AD 333 Tour). Those are the low compression offerings.

I was playing the Project a (older version) before the price hike. I was very impressed with that ball. Haven't tried the new one.

I tried the Blue, but settle with the Cut Grey. Great ball for the price and unlike Vice, it doesn’t have a visible seem.

Totally agree the QST and Project A are balls that price sensitive golfers need to try out.

I switched over to the Cut Blue and absolutely love that ball. It’s durable - played 45+ holes with one ball and put it through the ringer with a cart path and a tree and it was still very much playable with very minor wear. I love the action on the greens and get low spin on my driver. Don’t see myself going back to another higher priced ball anytime soon.
