Honma Tour Release (TR)/Tour World (TW) Clubs

... I have set of TW737Vs irons I play every now and then. Just a great looking and sweet feeling set of irons. They are actually my 3rd set as I play P790's and also rotate Cobra Forged Tours into my bag several rounds a year. The Honma's are the best feeling of the bunch but I am spoiled by the performance of my P790's so the 737's don't see many rounds.

Sorry, I did not see your thread. I am considering migration from Mizuno to Honma as getting old.

4rheel, do you have any Honma clubs?

Yes, I have the TW727 Hybrid and TW727 3w. i tired the TW737 line first but something was missing/off for me. Not sure what it was. Good clubs but just didn't fit me. Then the rep explained that the US line was made in China and it was a bust in overall sales. Explains the liquidation-like prices online. The TW727 line was made in Sakata and he told me to give them a try. I tracked some down and it ended my search for 3w and Hybrid. The TW727 3w was the perfect size for me, between the two offerings of the 737 line. The TW727 Hyrbid has a slightly squared off toe compared to the TW737. Little things like that along with the livelier shafts sold it for me.

Even though I'm enjoying my TS3, I will give the TW747 455 a go when it comes out. Let us know how you like the TW737 455.

My 737 Hybrid definitely said it was made in China. I haven’t been able to hit it yet but I really like the shape. It has such a compact pleasant look to it that I really like. The drivers look incredible as well with the SUPER deep face. I don’t think I’ll order one of them though. The whole line can be had for a steal on eBay basically.

I finally got to try Tw737 455. It has YUGE club face compared to Mizuno JPX 900. Though both clubs weighs identical (322g), IMO Honma feels a lot heavier. But my neighbors thinks Mizuno is heavier.

At range, club sits bit closed for me; it took a while for me to adjust. when you hold the club, it feels rock solid. upon impact, it generates quite solid but dull feel and low sound. I m not sure if I like it but the result matters. yet to test more.

to be cont'd........

I hit a TW 737 460 the other day but the weight was further forward, not exactly sure what model it was but I was impressed... it was loud but it flew pretty straight.... I may grab one for fun, it was $130 on the used rack. Honma stuff is really nice.

The iron with the black insert is strange looking for a premium brand. Don't know enough about them. Look more P750 than P730 to my untrained eye.

The black insert is P series; cast game improvement irons

V series is forged players iron.

Thank you for explaining that...I couldn't picture Rose with the black one in his bag! Guess I should do some reading up on them if they're going to have something of a tour presence. Personally not thrilled with the looks of the blade either so will be interesting to see how it performs for Justin.

Let us know about your new asset. I was about to get it but turned away because it is cast irons. I guess once you go forged, it is hard to get out.

I am interested in Vs model (Bigger club head) but not easy to get. also eyeing on 3w too.

... An FYI, I have listed a set of 737Vs in the classifieds. I am playing P790's and my back ups are Forged Tours so as much as I love the 737Vs, they just aren't gonna get any playing time. Played them for 2 rounds and they are so very sweet feeling irons that have the best turf interaction of my 3 sets but I like the forgiveness of my other 2 sets so I am reluctantly gonna sell my 737Vs irons to someone that will actually play them.

Picked up the TW 737-445, reminds me of an old school Titleist driver with modern technology. Took me no warmup to flush the thing. I only hit 2 drivers longer than it (only about 5 yards), but none with the consistency and trajectory that I know will end up being long on the course with fairway rollout.

I miss left, this club can’t possibly go left. Currently in heaven.

I picked up TW727 430cc driver head. Nice deep face and stunning at address. I will post pics.

I played the 737Ps a little this summer. Best cast irons I have ever played, but ended up going back to Mizuno.
