Fowler just said in an interview from his first round at the WM that the TP5 is going an average of 5yds further than his old ball and he is needing to get used to it.

I think Mcilroy said the same when he moved over to TM. He gained some distance and it was a better wind ball.

His proto of the ball, not our TP5x.

Apologies if I missed this as I’ve been following this thread, but not super closely. Does anyone have any actual data to back up the ball speed claims of the new TP5X?

I haven't seen any reviews yet other than a few off-the-cuff reports on this site. I do really like Rickie's new TP5X commercial where he's at the Tour range and the lady at the range counter asks Rickie if he wants the same ball as usual and he replies, "No, I'm going to go with performance this time." Ouch!

The balls hit the market on Feb 15. Other than a few YouTube reviews, not much out there yet.

I do like that commercial. Probably the best way possible to dig at Titleist.

Driver SS low 90s for me. Can't speak to the new 2019 version, but I've seen real gains with the current TP5x vs ProV1x, ProV1, and Chrome Soft.

Versus the old or new (‘19) versions of the Titleist balls ?

I know everyone’s experience is different but I want to chime in that I played 6 boxes of TP5X last year and didn’t have a single durability issue. I wonder if there was simply a bad (large) production batch.
I went through 4 dozen and never saw any issues either. Same thing with a pro I know that used only the TP5s. All these claims baffled me.

Okay, how are the TP5’s? I might be off the TP5x bandwagon because I need the extra spin with the irons and the Chromesoft seems to fit the bill.

If Fowler wins today there will be quite a few people giving the TP5/TP5X a trial when spring golf kicks off (still a few months away for me). Massive publicity win for TM.

Vs all. I feel like with my ss I can't get into that inner core to fully use tp5x potential.

DJ won with the ball on the European tour and last week Rose won with it also.

I use a check n go for my golf balls. 1 out of 4 TM balls are so out of round they hit the cover of the check n go. I have only had one ProV do this in 8 dozen....

Gotta get this on a monitor compared to last years and other manufacturers current line. To see if ball speed is increased.

TaylorMade can't get anywhere on Rickie's bag or his hat? Even just a TP5X logo or something? The commercials are nice, but they could use a little more than that.

Dozen TP5 pre-ordered and payed for (Ships on release date) here in the U.K.

Former TM ball lover, TP5X user of late; and hoping the HFM layer and slight compression increase of the TP5 makes this the decent feeling, ‘long enough’ and controllable ball reminiscent of the TP Red / LDP of old....

I broke down and bought a sleeve of the new X's and played with the same ball for 18 holes today and saw no issue with durability. It performed pretty **** good. One hop and stop, like most of the tour balls do. It's a good ball. Not worth what they sell for though.
