Reverse Tilt at Address - Driver Heel Strikes

I want to better understand how setup plays a major role at impact, as my main miss with driver is heelside. I understand the premise of playing the ball more off the toe to get more centered contact, but what role does reverse tilt per the normal upward attack technique do for extension at impact? It would seem that if I already exhibit an in to out path, this setup position might exaggerate it even more. I assume my heel strikes are from a severe in-to-out and playing the ball forward.

When I hit it off the heel, it would appear to come from early extension or as Monty says, goat humping.....

Monty also says that EE is a symptom of something worse. Its taken me a while to track it down but (for me) it appears if I don't have a proper turn then I am much more likely to hump that goat and hit the driver off the heal.

Don't ask me to explain why the turn affects me that way. Much more qualified people here than me.

If you have reverse tilt at address, you’ll have an even bigger urge to early and excess tilt your shoulders to hit up....that’s a recipe for a heel shot for many.

Thanks for the input. It's one of those things where everything feels right except impact location. I'll definitely dial back the hitting up and try making a more normal swing.

I played today and something that really helps is focusing on the driver head and the ground, more so than the ball itself. With the ball teed up I somehow always manage to deliver the driver shallow on the face and heel side. When I address the ball and focus on the top of the driver(crown/face) as a "return" reference I was almost hitting under it, but it helped tremendously. I was focusing on the ball and that's why I was bringing the driver in different than at rest.

That does help, but focusing on the driver head helps more.

Secondary question, will playing a significantly heavier shaft in a longer club, like driver, make the heel-side of the face a more likely perceived middle for the swinger? Does more shaftweight, nearer the hands, fool the hands by changing where the perceived head position is at?

Swinging a sledge, it's obvious where all the weight is at, but a pipe it would be tough to square up the end given the even distribution of weight.
