So ping designed the fetch to ruin golf holes

Really? I know many old timers who have a hard time bending over, but will shoot a 68 blindfolded.

I play with a guy in his mid 70's 3-4 times a month and he uses one of those ball grabbers (he still hits it 215-225!). He is really careful, but a couple times each season he does a bit of damage to the edge of the cup. I always fix it for him, but it's usually just a little indent on one single edge of the cup. I wonder if this Ping putter can do a bit more damage by tearing out and up on an edge as it is so much larger than just a grip sized ball picker.

Dunno, but it seems probable.

Leave the putter and ban the people who find this concept difficult to execute correctly. Clubs and courses around the world would rejoice.

I’m 66 shoot from the senior tees, play fast, shoot 36-40 on a good day and love golf. I don’t hit it far anymore and cringe when I see guys like me playing from white or blue. Move up, and the other guys I play with we all enjoy it. We don’t make a lot of putts so we have 2 foot gimme rule. Really speeds up play. Wish more public players did that instead of endless lining up and grinding. We also play in a league and you get to pick your tees and your handicap is adjusted accordingly, best thing ever.

When I do make that rare put I like to bend over and get it out of the hole. Savory the moment.

They likely were putting a hole in the head anyway and made it so that it would snag a ball. Having putted with the Fetch on a green, it is the real deal. Putts very well. The picking up a ball is just a bonus and a talking point since nearly everyone golfing "scoops" up there ball from time to time from the putting surface and this is another way of doing it.

Absolutely the correct conclusion :)

Based on the pics I've seen on WRX, this new Ping Fetch putter barely fits into the golf hole. Yes, damage will be annoyingly done by this putter and I would not be surprised if clubs attempt to ban golfers from using club heads to remove balls from the cup.

I've played with people (mostly older gentlemen) that use their Anser style putter to pop their ball up out of the cup to keep from bending over. This has to be better than that.

Damn it I hate that!! I actually told a single I got paired with to stop doing it a few weeks ago after he damaged the cup at about hole number 5.

He mumbled something foul and looked at me like he wanted to fight. I’m a mean f#cker on the course when it comes to etiquette and not damaging things and I looked at him like I would rip his head off. He cooled down.

Fortunately we were buddies the rest of the round.

They haven't done it yet. I'll bet you I can go out to any course at any time and find at least one person doing it. It is stupidly common. Even at private courses.

I see Westwood has the Fetch in play today, think Vegas has odds on whether he uses it to pull a ball from the hole? ...So far he's retrieving the ball from the hole the ole' fashioned way...

People are acting like 98% of people at your course are going to buy these things and ruin holes forever!!!!!! Let's be honest, VERY few, if any of these will be in play at your place. The hole will get way more f%^ked up from careless flag replacement and people digging their ball out of the hole with their newports like Tiger on a practice green.

My grandpa uses this thing that pops into the hole at the end of his grip. Its like a little $5 suction cup thing thats the size of the ball. He walks up, pops it directly onto the ball and walks away.

Problem solved.
