Low Bounce K

Hi Gang!

I've had the flu for a week so I've managed to read everything on the Internet there is to read about the Low Bounce K. I'm this close to ordering one, but thought I'd ask all of you first if anyone would like to talk me out of it. I've never played a similar wedge, so I really don't know what to expect. No chance trying one before I buy either.

Me: 4 handicap, short game is my strength. I've historically played the M in lob. By chance I stumbled on a 64* PM grind a couple years ago and absolutely love it from the bunkers. I like it so much there, I made room for it in the bag even though I only ever use it in bunkers and on the rare occasion a high flop. Now I want to close my gaps a bit and would like a 60* as my highest lofted club. This club will need to perform many different tasks though, not just bunkers, so I'm skeptical of going for a 60* PM as I don't really love anywhere but the bunker and high flops.

I used to always open the face and hit down in a cut move for high shots, but more and more I've been moving to a square face, center weight and dead hands with lot's of hinge for these shots, so I rarely open the face much, therefor I'm thinking maybe I don't need the M, although I guess I've never really understod why someone would play something like an S grind over of an M, even if they don't use the heel and toe relief? Is the S more forgiving or something? I do chip off the toe, but rarely with the lob wedge so I don't really need the toe relief on this club either.

On longer shots, I do like to hit a lower trajectory, high spinning shot and I guess this is where I am a bit afraid of the K. Would the Low Bounce K be be alright for these, even though it has a wide sole and lot's of camber? Can someone compare it to something similar to an M in these situations?

I might just order another M, or maybe an S if someone could tell me why? But I've become a bit spoiled by the PM grind in the sand, that I would ideally like something with a wider sole and I guess this is where the Low Bounce K intrigues me.

Personally, I love the K and D grind in the SM7's. I can hit any shot I want, even flop shots. The wide bounce is so forgiving.

I think you would like the low bounce K coming from the M grind. I think you'll find it to be more forgiving for open faced and square shots.

I’ve played the k grind for a few years now. When the sm7 went to 12deg bounce I picked up the low bounce. Coming from the TVD K that was 10deg. Judging by your post I think it’s a good fit. Playing a squarer face and utilizing the bounce is key. And it’s money out of the bunker

OP, the Cleveland 588 RTX(1) in 60/8* is quite similar to the low K from my experience. Might be worth picking one up for a few bucks to see if it tickles your fancy.

I went ahead and ordered one. I play my wedges slightly longer, so Vokeys are nice because they can lighten the swingweight a bit. We’ll see, I hope it works for me!
