Titleist prepped shafts with ping adapter

Looking at purchasing a set of Graphite Design AD IZ from a friend who played them in a 917 driver. He pulled the adapters and I’m currently playing G400 driver and 3 wood and wanted to know if I will have any issues with the tips being over prepped when installed with ping adapters. Also will the playing length from 45” and 43” in his Titleist clubs differ when installed in my G400 heads?

It really depends on who prepped the shafts...And how much they prepped. Hypothetically...If thwy prepped the shafts from tip to the top of the adapter...the PING ferrule would cover it.

BUT if someone prepped all the way up above the adapter to the ferrule, youbwill have some prep showing.

You'll most likely see some prep above the ferrule but as 81Ping said it depends upon who did the prepping and how far up they went.

The insertion depth on the Titleist driver adaptor is about 1/8" deeper than the Ping so if they just prepped to the top of the adaptor the Ping ferrule should cover it but if they went a little further up you're going to be able to see some prepped area.

Ping adapters have the shortest tip 'cover' length (bore depth + ferrule length) of any of the OEM's (that I've had any experience with). So 1/8" to 1/4" exposed tip prep after switching is very common.

The good news is that, if it's a concern visually (it will not a problem otherwise), the little extra tip trim required for it to go away will generally not have any noticeable effect on the performance of the shaft.

It's true Titleist tip trims some shafts 1/2" - but not all of them, it depends on the shaft model (and year it came out of the factory - the policy has changed some through the years) and the reason has nothing to do with anything about the heads or adapters that need 'accounting for'.
