Driver for a Grafalloy Blue

Hi all

Managed to find a dirt-cheap Grafalloy Blue in a Titleist 905S that I plan to pull and put in a different head (it's 8.5 deg and not suitable).

Any recommendations for a non-adjustable head?

Thinking either Adams Speedline Fast 10, Ping i15, Ping i20 - but haven't hit any of them so I'd really like some feedback from people that have used them before.

Assuming that the Blue (original blue colour?) is installed as a full bore-thru, the tip will be over-prepped for most non-adjustable heads. You can tip the shaft a little, but that'll make the shaft play slightly stiffer flex

Bag: currently under construction

Taking a shaft from a bore through to a std-bore will need some tipping for it to play the same anyways. Typically 1/2" to 1" depending on the specs of the heads and the recommendations from the shaft manufacturer. That is unless the OP wants it to play a little softer in the new head as compared to the 905 (it is a fairly stiff shaft).

For the OP - You may want to test it out in the 905S and see how it feels before swapping it out (if you haven't already). And use that test to decide what tipping if any might be needed.

Thank you gents,

I used to have a Grafalloy Blue (original, as is this) in a 905T, 9.5 deg head. Loved that but the 905S isn't right for me. Adjusted many a shaft in my Pro Shop days, so comfortable doing the alterations.

I'm thinking of a 10.5 deg head, the shaft is an old favorite so hope it's the answer!

I play the original Blue in my Cobra LTD now. Bomber.

I actually have a 983k coming with a Blue in it that I’m going to yank and put in a Titleist TS3.

I play my drivers at 43.5” and I like that Blue in stiff but heavily tipped instead of using an X. X was soooo stiff. I’ll tip mine 2.5 inches so the fact it’s a bore through is irrelevant to me.

Man that original Blue was the best driver shaft ever. I wished I would have bought several of them and hoarded them for future use. Had it in a 9* Bang-o-matic driver from Bang golf. Played that for almost 9 years before it finally cracked. Tried to duplicate but by that time Bang golf wasn't what it used to be and really hard to find the original blue.

Had one of my best seasons driving the ball, distance and dispersion-wise, with my i20 after pairing it with a new Blue (white) X.

I just wish the White version of the Blue felt the same as the old Blue. There is just something that isn't quite right about the White version.

If you pull that Blue from the Titleist, you'll have close to 4" of prepped shaft to deal with. You won't be able to tip it enough to hide it in an adapter before you run out of parallel tip section.

Sure the prepped bit will sit just below the 'ferrule' of the adapter, like it does now below the ferrule of the 905S?

Would do - but the ADDI in my M2 HL 3-wood is a beast! If only it behaved the same in the driver :fie:
