Any way to remove hosel burn marks?

Did a few searches and came up empty.

I found a cheap set of iron heads I've always wanted to try. Unfortunately they have some hosel burn marks from shaft removal(s?). Any way to remove that?

Maybe it's the same process as removing burn marks from stainless pots/pans? Boil, vinegar soak, baking soda scrub.

Anyone have some tips for me?

What irons ?

Are they cast or forged (And chrome plated) ?

Barkeepers Friend works well if they are stainless. If they're satin a blue scouring pad will make it work fast and if they are more of a polished finish use some fine steel wool.

If they are chrome Blue Away or Simichrome should polish most of the color off.

My guess is if you are seeing burning they are stainless or a raw finish. You have to do some serious heating on chrome to get it to turn blue.

What material and finish are they?

Wishon 870ti. Not chromed. Stainless, sort of satin-y but not like the satin you find on newer irons.

Barkeepers Friend and a blue 3M scrubby pad will do the trick.

Common sense to be careful and take your time when using abrasives ( Bar Keeper's Friend or 3M pad ). Otherwise, while removing the stain, you would also scratched up the surface finishing.

I would use something milder first, like auto polishing compound. Even car wax applied with soft cloth. If not working well then, try other harsher medium.
