MX-23s...dynalite shaft

S-300 Dynalite Gold
Hey everyone...I'm looking at picking up a set of these mx23s for cheap off ebay but was wondering about these dynalite shafts. I'm playing rac lt's (2004) w/ dynamic gold s-300s now and am pretty comfortable with them but it seems like mx-23s I'm looking at are shafted w/ the dynalites.

SS w/ driver 100-105. I think I'm in between a stiff/reg flex so these dynalites might actually fit my game better than the dynamic golds which I'm used to playing. Typically hit 7 iron about 150.

Any advice from other mx-23 users or dynalite users would be much appreciated!

Thanks...

I had that very setup. The Dynalites hit the ball higher than the Dynamic Golds. The S300 flex should be fine for your swing speed I would think. It will depend if you hit a high ball with the Dynamic Golds. If so, the dynalites may not be your best fit. I've seen the MX-23's on Ebay with Dynamic Golds before, so just try to stay patient. (cool)

If you like your ballflight height with the LT / DG combination, I would agree with Mr Divot and hold off until you can find a set of MX-23 / DGs. If you would like your ballflight to be higher, then the Dynalites sound like they'd be perfect for you. I have the Dynalite Golds in a set of Callaways and I like them a lot, but I'm a very low ball hitter.

thanks for the quick feedback guys...what speed are you guys swingining you irons at?

I don't feel I fight a high ballflight and am considering the dynalites to gain a lil more swingspeed and distance. I played rifle 6.0s previously in my rac lts but found they were a lil too stiff in the longer irons. Switching to the s300 dynamic golds brought my flight down a lil...even though the flight w/ rifles i thought was fine.

I play the MX-23's with Dynalite S-300's and went through a lot of the same analysis. Here's my take...

When I got the 23's I was looking at the orginal LT's and the Titleist 762's. Both had Dynamic Gold S-300's in them. I fought 2 things with the Dynamic Gold S-300's. They were a touch heavy and the ball flight was a touch low. To my, the Dynalites are a perfect match to what you said you were looking for above; an inbetween to the DG R-300 and S-300.

To me, the Dynalite S-300 was a perfect alternative to the Dynamic Gold. They were a touch lighter and a touch softer in the tip. The softer tip does get the ball up higher. I do have to say however, when comparing the Dynalite S-300's feel and ball flight, I think it is closer to a Rifle 5.0. Stronger, higher ball flight players do have to be careful of the dynalite shaft.

To answer another question of yours, yes, I did gain probably 1/2 club distance with the dynalites vs. the dynamic golds. To me, the distance was attributed to a lighter shaft and a better ballflight.

You HAVE to go hit them outside first though. I would never recommend anyone buying a club before they played it. That said, this will be the 23's 3rd season in the bag for me and I just reqripped them so they aren't going anyway until next season at the soonest...

Oh yea, driver swingspeed is 98-103 MPH and I hit the MX-23 7 Iron 155.

The Dynalites are gonna feel a little softer because their kickpoint is lower than the Dynamic Golds. But the actual flex will be the same. I think my 5 iron swing is 95-98-ish?? I play Dynamic Golds because I like the heavier weight, and the lower ballflight the wind can't touch. THe Dynalites were a mid/high flight for me in the MX-23's. I got them with Sensicore, which I didn't like when combined with the larger MX-23 head. Not enough feel or the "right" feel. In the set of MP-32's with sensicore I had, I liked it. I'd skip sensicore inserts for the MX-23's if you were considering it. If you've ever played a set of Ping I/3's with the JZ steel shafts, that's the best comparison I can think of for the MX-23/Dynalite combo as far as ballflight.

I've got the Dynalite S300's in my MX-23's, and so far I really like them. I was coming from a set of Cleveland TA6's, with a regular shaft flex. My driver swing speed is around 105 +- 5, and my 6 iron swing speed was around 90 +- 3. It was recommended to me by 3 different "Pros" that I go to a stiff flex for my irons. I would say you have the swing speed for the S300's. I've only had my 23's for a few weeks, and have only been to the range with them twice. So far, I think they're worth every penny (and I didn't get them off of Ebay). If you prefer a lower ball flight, you might want to go with the DG's instead of the dynalites. I personally like the higher ball flight in my irons, so the dynalites work for me. (cool)

Here's a somewhat uncommonly known fact. Dynalites are available in a cheaper combo flex R/S as well as weight sorted 'Gold' version. The Gold version actually plays softer as TT has different trim instructions for them. The combo flex trimmed to S pretty much frequencies and plays to a normal S flex. The Gold version S flex plays more like a firm. Not really a bad thing..softer iron flexes usually don't hurt the typical golfer much. 0.370 steel is pretty stout and low torque and less prone to directional issues than skinny wood shafts.
