hzrdus black in 5 wood - not as low launching as you think. infact i was fitted for hzrdus black in driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, and hybrid, lol

it works for sure, Ive heard 6.0 can actually launch high. I get launch out of my fairways.

im starting a campaing for hazrdus black Iron shafts :)

Ok so a few guys playing black in fairways.. I agree its not low launching but havent had a chance to hit it in a 3wd yet. The new HZRDUS smoke looks like it might be a good option so ill try and demo it asap

its low launching compared to other shafts, I just think it has the rep of being for really high swing speeds only, which is not the case. But if you have a slow swing speed its prob not ideal. But if it works in your driver, its worth a go in fairway. Even if your driver specs are too stiff, can always bump down the weight/go with a 6.0 or 5.5 in fairway.

I was playing the Black but I switched to the Smoke in my driver and I stuck with the red in my 3 wood. I test a lot of shafts and I have found that I need to go a touch lighter in the HZRDUS line for my fairway woods. I usually like something low to mid 80s in my FWs and I just got better results in the mid 70's of the HZRDUS. I tried both the 75 and 85 for the HZRDUS Red and the 75 performed much better for me.

I get what you are saying. Im loving the 60x in driver and havent found a fwy shaft I love recently, wanted to see if there was a pattern in what other players chose and it seems its to stick with hzrdus!

How did the smoke play compared to black? do you think its a decent option for 3wd? most talk seems to put it at a mid/mid profile so im curious what you think of it

The Smoke is exactly what it sounds like, a black with a little more torque. To me it's more of a lower launching version of the red because it feels much better than the black. I launched and spun it (the smoke) slightly higher than the black but I ended up tipping it an extra 1/2" and it performed very similar to the black. It's the silly season so I've got about 20 shafts in testing but I think what I'm going to end up with is a Smoke 65 6.5 tipped 1" in my driver and I'm going to stick with a HZRDUS Red 75 6.5 tipped 1" in my 3 wood. I was playing a HZRDUS Black 65 6.5 tipped 1/2" in my driver before this.

sounds like the right choice. smoke tipped, heavy tipped red, or black in 55 would all probably feel great to you, give or take.

I play the Black 6.0 in my driver, and a 5.5 in my 3 wood. I am really liking how this works for me so far. I think it is more about the weight distribution in this shaft that I like so much, but they both work for me.

exactly the same as me, and my swing speed can top 110 with driver and 103ish with woods. 5.5 is great in fairways and not as stiff and low launching as you might think, especially if you are swinging 100mph+ with driver
