Anyone Still Play Adams?

My wife bought me a set of XTD A Tour irons for our anniversay not knowing anything about them. I didn't want to break her heart, so I took them out for a round and I am glad I did. They were easily the best feeling most accurate irons I have played.

Work in progress and will be updated after St. Andrews!!

Still have a 23º 9031 with a Mitsubishi Diamana in the bag. Adams were the first to offer aftermarket shafts in a retail version of a club that i can think of.

and like most, it seems, I was bummed when they got bought by Taylormade.

Adams Forged Tour and Adams Tour A's are still cutting edge,......5 years after Adams cashed out hugely to TM.

TM stole the technology and said to Adams, see you in court.

Who was the winner in that deal?

My Adams XTD drivers all have the vaunted TM "Hammerhead" technology. They are five years old.

I cannot knock the Idea Pro hybrids out of the bag. The 23 is a permanent fixture in the bag, but I do go back and forth between a 18 and 20 for my 3 iron replacement. Clean look. Very versatile. No fear of the hook. I just trust that they are going to do what I expect them to do.

I still play a Speedline Super S driver, Xtd TI 3h and Xtd Ti 3 wood. Unbelievable clubs.

Still rocking the XTD Ti *18 hybrid and the Dhy *21. Nothing better for the price. And if you like to tinker, you can score TM tipped shafts for cheap for the XTD hybrid.

Also, I got my Dhy head for less than $25, you can still find them too. It plays like a hybrid but people will think you are player for having a driving iron in the bag.

CMB's in da bag. Super LS 3, 5 woods. Have CB3's for winter rounds, as they are more forgiving. Also have Idea Pro hy. 18 ,21, 24 avail when needed. Yes I love the Adams stuff. I supported the Texas company's for sure, dont get me started on my Hogan stash !

I played a4 forged irons for years and years until I needed to meet CoC. I still think the a4 is the best forged iron ever made.

I currently bag a Tight Lies 2 fairway wood. I'm a big fan of the Tight Lies series of woods, designed "sole"y for use off the ground. Low profile and a 2-3 degrees flatter. Gorgeous woods.

The Taylormade $250 GAPR clubs are just DHYs with a new paintjob. The clubs are virtually identical.
I can not believe this the world must be coming to a end. I am actually agreeing with Piney and gave him a like too! I just recently put my Adams 16* Tight Lies fairway back in the bag. And you are correct the sole is designed for off the ground. If I have to use it off the tee I just put it flat. Some call it a 3 wood but in my book it is a 4 wood. Depending on what irons I am playing that day I may put an old Adams a-12 OS 4 hybrid in the bag. I did have to do a little work on it but it is not a hook machine for me. I hit all of my old Macgregor blade long irons good but do not hit my MP-68 or 2013 Forged long irons that well so if I play them the little Adams hybrid goes in

D:Fast12 LS, 9015D, and XTD Ti. Of the 20+ drivers I have ever played, the Fast 12 is my favorite. Would still like to try the 9064LS and Launch Lab.

FW: Super LS 5w and Tight Lies 2 Ti 3 wood. I need a heavier shaft for the TL2. The various threads about the BTY have piqued my interest in those. The Super LS is tied with my Ping Tisi Tecs for my favorite fairway woods.

H: Speedline Super XTD 15°. Have XTD Ti 20° and 23° heads that I need to get shafts for. I used to use the Super XTD hybrid as my fairway wood as it is really long for a hybrid.

Would like to try the CMB or XTD forged irons, but I know I don't have the game for them. Would also like to try the A4 forged or one of the CB series irons.

Wedges and putters are the only Adams clubs that I have never been interested in.

My backup set is the Adams A12 OS SGI set of clubs. Even with my regular set I take the a couple of the Adams hybrids instead of the 4 or 5 iron most of the time.

Probably my favorite bag is XTD Driver, fairway, and hybrid along with CMB irons. It plays to me just as good as the modern equipment too. It really hurt to see Adams get bought out by Taylormade. You can see Taylormade use a lot of Adams later designs too. Anyone still got love for Adams equipment? Bernard Langer!!!!

A little late to this thread but saw it and had to reply. I love Adams products; it's a shame what TM did to them.

I've had the Speedline TI fairways (14.5 and 18) in the bag since they came out; have tried other woods but nothing beats these so they stay in the bag.

Played the A4 forged when they first came out and loved them, then foolishly sold them. Recently purchased a set of XTD forged irons but only played one round; great irons. I was a little nervous playing them in the fall/winter so I purchased a set of a4's to put in play for the winter; it was like putting on an old pair of comfortable shoes!. They perform as well or better than anything I've tried in the past 5-6 years.

The XTD's also came with 2 XTD ti hybrids; gaming the 20* right now but the 23* doesn't fit my setup. They are long and smooth - love the Matrix shafts.
