Quick question, how do sets like these normally show up? I've recently seen the Callaway MB for sale in raw, but other than, that don't really see popular models offered like this. Is this usually a job done by the person who bought the set, or a special offering by the manufacturer?

Oughtons Golf Repair in Sacramento. Price was lower than anywhere else I'd found. Doug, the owner, is a really cool guy. Used to run big shops back in the day and now does most stuff out of his house. I'm not sure who he used to strip the iron heads but the price was so low I remember thinking there was no way he made any money off me. Look him up at oughtonsgolf.com

How much weight does it take off to strip the chrome?

I recall it being a small amount, maybe 5-6 grams. You'd have to ask. With the Wishon irons it didn't matter because I just added weight into the weight port after the fact.

Hey i checked out his site. Looks decent and always good to hear a good recommendation. What did you ask for ? to just strip the heads and leave them raw?

I have this 3-P set of Powerbilt Grand Slam blades with the old Rifle Precision shafts. Definitely no glare off these heads. I love the raw steel look and like them to be "weathered" but don't like rust. Just me I guess. I like the white paint fill on raw too.

Yes. Price should be less then advertised because no finish is applied. After they were stripped I found a powder coating shop to sandblast them ($10 for all the heads, takes about 5 minutes), which let the nice patina set in.

Just had these stripped. Still not very rusty after about a month, but winter came early so I've only played once or twice.

Not sure how recent that pick is but wait till you get a few dozen rounds in with those beauties. The way they age is really awesome.

They age beautifully. I’ve actually redone the black ox because I’ve completely removed all paintfill. Murdered Out.

My Srixon z545's. I removed the badges from them, then had a local company bead blast the heads with glass. The cavity is what is raw, while the rest of the head still has the chrome plating, it is just dull now.

I gamed my Yururi's for about 6 years. Got I don't know how many dozens of compliments on them and really loved the way they aged (never had mine redone but I did think about it).

In the quest to lower my handicap I moved on to a "more forgiving club". News flash - I still shoot the same scores.

I had a set of J40's done. I loved the look, but it was always difficult getting the weight back to the right spot. In mine I lost 6-10 grams. I didn't want to put lead tape on such beautiful clubs. I couldn't use tip weights heavy enough because I was using graphite shafts too. I actually put some lead powder in the cavities and then put a layer of epoxy over it to hold it in. That helped some, but in the end it was difficult.
