How great will Cameron Champ be?

Yes I know it is far too soon to take an educated guess on his career. But he is the talk of the forum in the last few weeks, so here we are.

Given his performance in the 2018 Web.com season and his first two months on the PGA Tour, what is your best guess as to how Cameron Champ's career will progress.

His PGA Tour career so far

11 starts

1 Win: Sanderson Farms

3 top 10s

4 top 25s

7 made cuts

$1,291,347

Current Fed Ex Cup ranking: 6

OWGR: 97

There are six choices in the poll and it is public.

#1: Jack/ Tiger level

Cameron Champ's game will change the course of human affairs. He will be talked about as the best ever. Tournaments with Champ will get double or triple the attention of others. Courses will need to be "Champ proofed." Jim Nantz will hammer his life story into your DNA. (OK he'll do that no matter what choice you pick)

#2: First Ballot Hall of Famer

Among the 10-20 best ever with the likes of Watson, Mickelson and Trevino. He will win 5-8 majors and over thirty PGA Tour events. He will reach #1 in the world and PGA POY. He'll still get huge media coverage and make a lot off the course if he wants to.

#3 Hall of Fame Career

Among the best ever with the likes of Davis Love III, Tom Kite or Dustin Johnson. He will win about twenty times on the PGA Tour and win 1-3 majors. He will still make a lot of money on the course. However, there will be some who think he "underachieved."

#4 Solid Career

7-10 wins and he might have a major in there too. Cameron did have a few injury issues in college, so this might be the choice for those who don't want to aim too high.

#5 Overhyped

Champ is good, but he'll be fortunate to win 5 times. He'll struggle to keep his card a few times, but he'll have a few John Daly like weeks where he makes a run. He might even fluke a major in his career, probably at Augusta or a windless week at the Old Course. Also the choice for those that think Champ isn't good, but think PGA Tour courses fit his unworthy game.

#6 He's a bum

He's nothing but a big hitter. He got lucky once and he'll probably win again in the next twenty years, but you think he'll be off the tour in 5 years.

Take a guess and then see what the future holds.

I'm going to take choice #3. He looks to be a Davis Love III/ Dustin Johnson type of player. He's very very long and that just makes the game easier. He'll probably go as far as his putter will take him.

It's too early to tell, he's played well in some subpar fields, let's see how he does during the meat of the season with all the top guys playing. I was torn between solid career and Hall of Fame. His distance is an advantage and if he improves his short game and putting he could make it into the Hall of Fame.

Long term success is difficult, he has to avoid injuries, personal issues, stress of competing week after week with a full schedule.

I think the first five years of his career will be similar to Justin Thomas' - meteoric rise in the OGWR, half a dozen wins or more & maybe a major if he picks the right week.

After that, who knows? By then he'll be extremely wealthy and there will probably be others who are just as long, if not longer.

I'm excited to see his progress next season.

He's the latest JB Holmes or Jon Rahm until he proves he isn't, right? Remember how CBS gushed over them at Phoenix and Torrey?

Spieth had one of the greatest seasons in '16, what's he been doing since... Golf is hard, fields are deep. Give Champ some time, we'll see. I voted second from last...

"Yes I know it is far too soon to take an educated guess on his career."

SO! Let's make some uneducated guesses? I think you were absolutely correct in you first eight words and then it all went to hell!

That's eight more words than normal. I'll try to go straight to Hell right from the start next time.

I will play along

Kids swing is simple. Way better than YJS's action

When his short game and putting improves and he gets mentally stronger .. I can see him winning a major on a big course like Whistling Straights and getting 6-9 wins

The wild cards of course are: young family, burnout, injuries and mucho dineros

If he keeps his pimp hand strong and stays away from VAS irons he should be good
