Mitsubishi Tensei AV TX Flex Tour Protos, Photos + Info

Recommended Posts

We now have the Tour profile version of the new Tensei AV Blue.

The TENSEI™ AV Blue Series modernizes MCA GOLF's tour-proven, classic smooth bend profile. Aluminum Vapor Coated Fiber in the butt section adds stability, to help achieve the desired EI target and stiffness. Compared to the previous TENSEI™ CK Series, this is slightly lighter throughout, with a lower torque. And the AV weave is tighter and thinner, to help prevent shaft ovaling and improve energy transfer.

The Tour profile, slightly stiffer tip, lower torque, and tighter overall for Tour level swing speed (105+mph) TX flex is Tour only and not available retail.

Here is the purchase thread.

First photo is comparison to a Tensei Pro Blue. You can see the weave difference in the handle.

Nice tensei pro blue is such a sweet shaft can’t even imagine an upgraded version

It's just a bit different. AV TX is slightly smoother across the profile than pro blue which gives it a bit more of that linear load type feel. The Tour profile is a little closer to the pro blue in overall cpm stiffness but the linearity in feel is different. Sort of like a Tensei Pro Blue/Diamana DF type cross. For guys who like that blueboard type profile it's very nice. Remember though, the TX Tour profile is different in several ways from the sub flexes.

That AV seems pretty good. Produces almost the same numbers at the ATX Green

I wouldn't go that far. Haha. It's lower spin than Tensei Pro Blue for him but it's close. The ATX green is still a couple hundred under almost anything. Also, as you may know, more players on Tour are going AV Blue in the TX than Pro Blue. So much so that most vans are sticking AV blue. I should be clear, these numbers are for TX version ONLY. The other flexes are not the same makeup and will launch much higher and spin much more. Closer to a non pro blue.

Toll,

So you are kind of saying it’s similar to Pro Blue launch/slightly lower spin but similar feel to the DF? How do you think it would compare to the BF, similar feel but lower spin and launch?

Is the actual weight 75g or is it a little more or little less? Thinking it could be a good replacement for the Pro Blue in the 3wood, but also a solid driver option as well.

Thanks!

The vans on tour are now mostly carrying Tensei AV TX instead of Pro Blue. The AV is a little crisper and slightly lower spin, but the Pro Blue might be the best feeling shaft in golf. So so smooth. The BF is also a very good shaft but it's a little more firm in the way it loads. It lacks the smoothness of the Tensei line in my opinion. I would not choose BF over either AV TX or Pro Blue. I'm not sure if that helps much.

Yes that helps, thank you! One last question, I was able to get a hook up on a new Cobra F9 and got it with the Tensei Pro Orange 70TX at no upcharge. I know the Pro Orange is a low/low counterbalanced shaft, if I didn’t care for that set up, how would the AV compare to the Pro Orange or even the Pro Orange V2? Figure the AV is probably more mid launch and mid/low launch, would that be comparable to the V2 without the counterbalance, maybe a touch more spin?

Thanks!

Pro orange feels firmer and spins less for sure, assuming both are tipped the same. The AV TX is a little smoother in feel, higher launch and a bit higher spin. It's a blueboard based profile so of course the feel is amazing but that profile is more butt stiff and tip soft than a pro orange. They are profiles for different players.

It’s a nice feeling shaft. Even at 120mph in the 65tx with no tipping it feels really smooth. I think an 1” tipped 75tx would be really good

Again, the ATX Green wins the day with the Tensei AV a close second (albeit with an extra small amount of spin)
