Long neck dream putter! SC LN buttonback - 1 of 12 produced (of this exact model)

For all the long neck, old school Scotty Cameron fans, thought I'd share this rare Gem that I ran across yesterday on the bay. This one checks all the boxes of my dream putter!

On a side note, it's kinda sad when you think the next owner will likely never use it, never adjust it to their loft/lie/length/grip preferences but rather hang it on a rack or shelf to collect dust. Makes me sad.

I was watching one of these long necks that was a 2008 studio select on eBay, went for like $1500/1600, obviously not buttonback but I love the look of the long neck

    Wow...amazing flatstick! Beached too...even better!

Any guesses as to the BY initials?

I don't ever recall seeing a beached putter with an insert. Pretty interesting find.

I bet that putter gets play. $5 to $10k is a wall hanger. That one, with the weights, is a gamer.

Why not just a regular TeI3 Long neck? Bit of lead tape on the bottom and you're away and laughing.

SCADO was a get together for some of the loyal Cameron collectors who had spent $$$. I think it stands for Scotty Cameron Appreciation Days (not sure about the “o”).

Anyways. These putters were given to the collectors as gifts so the initials aren’t of a tour pro they are just a guy or girl with lots of disposeable income.

It’s rare that these come up for sale though since they were personalized and so The Scotty Cameron folks can tell who is selling theirs.

That's exactly what I have/use, haha, even use 2 small pieces of lead tape on the bottom. This is just a dream putter characteristically, even love the finish. Would love to compare and see how the sound slot impacts the feel/sound.

Just saying if I were ever going to throw down a boatload on a putter in my lifetime, this would probably be it.

thought about it, but because I play such a short putter it takes a lot of lead tape.

You could get close with aftermarket work, get weights, and a sound slot cut in at the same time. I'm sure they could replicate the finish too. But I'd keep the TeI3 elastomer dots.

    Weights are easy

Makes me realize how overpriced lefty putters have become.

Sold for $2k. A piece of me died a little not going for it.

I guess initials can make it a bit more tricky if it's not a player.

What is this SCADO I keep seeing stamped on Cameron’s on the bay?
  • Rob McHughRob McHugh Rob ClubWRX Posts: 976 ClubWRX
They were invitational events for Cameron collectors held on an annual basis in conjunction with Jim Butler at Table Rock golf. SCADO is Scotty Cameron Appreciation Day and I think the O is for OO (2000 first outing). Could be wrong about the 0 but seem to remember that being it. :-)

Rob, I was thinking the same thing about the zero. 2 grand seems right to me, but I don't know the righty market. I'd guess it would be slightly more desirable than a nice Tour Rat or the original button back's. Higher end of what guys will typically put in play. A lot of coin sitting in your bag that's for sure.

    Yep, it’s a beautiful putter but I don’t think I would drop 2K for a putter with someone else’s initials. :-)
