M4 vs M3

Despite them being very different heads, has anyone done a head to head?

I would think that weights back on the M3 would provide comparable data to the M4 as is.

Yes but I don't have the data to show. Same.shaft tested in all. M3440 was left...a lot. M3460 is straight but too much spin in all lofts for me.

M4 was straight but too much spin until I tested the 8.5.

It's in my bag now. Kicked my 9.5 16 m2 out.

For me the m3 weight back in 8.5 was slightly lower spin then m4 8.5 weight back. Also slightly more ballspeed.

But also a touch less forgiving.

Thank you. It looks as though in the right hands, they produce similar numbers. Sure wish TM made 8.5 offerings in LH without having to adjust using the sleeve!

I saw similar numbers when i compared the two and simply went with the M3 due to adjustability.

I moved from a EPIC SZ 9* as I preferred the feel of the Taylormade.

M4 head looked closed to me(maybe just square) so hit it a couple of times and that was enough

I play my M3 8.5* with the weights at the back, similar setup to the weight back in the EIPC SZ. Launch is similar head looks better.

I play a m4 8.5(9.1) actual and it sits perfect for me and it’s an awesome driver. Most accurate driver I’ve hit.

Massive difference. I tried the weights all over the place, most consistent for me was the weights back.

Weights both forward was my starting point and eventually after 3 weeks ended up with them in the back.

I would either get massive long bombs or short and left, just wasn't enough spin with the Tensei Pro Orange so now very happy with the driver in the current settings, align grip and now happy with the grip centred on Standard and the weights back.

According to the published MOI data there is in fact a big difference. Similar forgiveness to the 2017 M2 and the second most forgiving driver TM have made after the M4. The M3 as a whole is shifted back a bit in terms of CG compared to the previous M1 drivers and the weight track allows the most forgiving settings to be even more forgiving as a result, basically about the same as the LS Tec PING models.

I tried both, I'm usually a m2 guy so the m4 was a no brainier will I was wrong, I have always played 10* heads in all tm and the m4 was way too high and ballooned so did the m3 with weights back but when I moved both won't forward whoa baby I have got my longest but most of all easiest to find the fwys drives ever , so I'm sold for a long while, I do still try different shafts and I just picked up the white tensei just to see if i can squeeze some more yds lol but I would be surprised

I swung the M4 and experienced the exact same thing. Way too high compared to the 3.

I’m a slower swinger but have an Uber strong grip and at impact I hood it shut causing low lefts. So I need a driver with high loft and an open face. So far the M3 12* fits the bill. The Epic 13.5 I was gaming was as long as anything I’ve hit but couldn’t top 60% FIR. With the M4 I ended the year at 73% FIR which is my personal best.
