Srixon Z 765 and Z 785 Irons Question

Have you upgraded to the Z785 irons from Z 765 and are they better? Looking at the design, it appears that the triangular mass design on the cavity is more centered in the 785 as opposed to towards the toe on the 765 which makes more sense. Thoughts?

That was one of the reasons I switched.Figured I would be better off trying to hit the center of club face and have the weight there.Found the 45 was closer to the heal. Also like the touch thinner top line and a little thinner sole and shorter face length of the 785.Little more slick in appearance .the main reason I switched was to go to the modus 105 stiff shaft being about 15 grams lighter than my kbs tours I have been playing.

Didn’t mind the looks of the 585, but did not get much more distance or forgiveness so I stayed with the 785 series.

Won’t be for a few more months till I can play.Too cold here now.

Thanks.

Yes, sold my Z765s because I'm used to a smaller profile like the Bridgestone J33 CBs. Even the J36 PCs I have now seem smaller than the Z765s. If the Z785s have a smaller profile, that would be perfect as long as it does not sacrifice forgiveness.

Recently bought 765. Was playing 545.

Could have waited for 785 but I didn’t because:

1. Longer blade length of 765 more forgiving

2. Tungsten in toe of 765 long irons more forgiving

3. 765 can be comboed seamlessly with 965 in shorter irons. To date there is no blade in the 85 series

The 785s long irons don't have the tungsten in the toe? Also a smaller blade length?

That is why I think they didn't make a 985. The 785 and 585 seem to be more "player" versions than previous counterparts. That is the biggest difference from older models.

My 12 handicap would be closely looking at the 585s if it wasn't for the black rubber in the cavity.

Except for the offset. There is more offset in the 785 than the 765.

Which is why I'm wavering. Love the 765 and the smaller head size of the 785 I would prefer. Not sure I want to add more offset though.

The 965s came months after the release of the 765/565 release. The 985s will come.

Regarding the switch, I can’t see that I will switch right now.

I game the 765's and have hit the 785's. Some may say I'm biased but I don't see much improvement between the two with regards to flight, turf interaction and overall feel. Other than the compact look and the muscle mass placement your going to get the same exceptional feel and performance from both once you dial in your shaft. But take that for what it's worth from a 15hcp.

My miss is out to the toe so the 765 makes sense to me. I'm probably one of the only few that thinks it looks better too.

The best thing about the Srixon irons is that they have an amazing product line and are happy to slowly adjust its successful formula rather then feeling the need to totally overhaul it. You can't go wrong with any of the 45, 65 or 85 range.

As a long time Ping guy, i was surprised that the 565's made it into my bag this winter. Loved the look, the price is right and from my short range session, i am glad i made the move. If you are the fence, check out the Srixons!

Ditto 745's are by far the best. Most aggressive grinds and a square look. Love mine 4 seasons and still going strong

Are the 745s same size, smaller or bigger than the 765s? Thanks.

OP here. Thanks for all the info.

I really like the look of the Z785s and if I can combo them with the ZU85s, that would be great.

Srixon, Dunlop and XXIO in Japan, is introducing a lot of good golf clubs. I played their I 302 irons several years ago when they were just starting in the US and those were very good irons, did not like their other releases after that except maybe for 701 tours. The Z series 45 to 85 are really nice.
