Narrow the iron search .

Help me narrow the search. I had a rough year. Started at 11, went up to almost a 16 and ended at a 12 so I turned it back around. I am currently playing g25 with dg xp s300. I also occasionally put a set of Adams Pro Gold forged w/Steelfiber i95’s that I like and hit almost as well as the g25. I am looking for a forgiving iron preferably with a slightly thinner sole than g25 and definitely not larger.

I picked up a set of TM p790 with Modus 105. I didn’t like the shaft. I’ve tried Callaway CF16 w/Steelfiber 110. Again I didn’t like the shaft. I have hit both my sons (xp95) and brother in laws (kbs) cf16’s on the range and either seem to fit well enough but I’m not really wanting the CF16.

I’ll get fit prior to purchase but I’m looking for suggestions of forgiving irons that are between the Adams Pro Golds and the g25. I play my g25 7-iron to about 160 yds.

There are so many options, where to start.

So many of us are in the same boat.

I’m between my 712 AP1’s and a set of MP4’s.

Every manufacturer has what we are looking for... Mizuno JPX Forged, Titleist AP2’s, Ping i210, Srixon, Bridgestone, Callaway, Taylormade.

Too much to choose from!

Stick with the G25's.

I’m really wanting to go to a slightly smaller sole than the g25. I love the feel of those Adams Pro Gold forged but a little higher ball flight and a little more forgiveness in a thinner sole would be fantastic.

Nothing wrong with the g25. I just want something new. If you recall, no new irons until I hit 50. I turn 53 in April so the g25 have been in the bag for a long while.

If you like the i95’s in the Pro Golds, try to track down something a little more forgiving with that shaft. Srixon 5xx, JPX Forged, Ap1/3, etc.

120 had completely different bend profile. Lot more kick and stiffer tip

Since you like the I95, pick up some i200/I E1 and have them reshafted to your specs. Plenty forgiving, good turf interaction. Call it a day.

Try the Ping i500s. I was pretty impressed with that package and I’m not typically a Ping Iron fan.

Look good at address, feel pretty good, long but not stupid and forgiving. All of that and the spin stayed at a good number- no big spin drop that you’ll see sometimes (Like Rogue Pro).

It’s a quality product. With that said I’m very anxious to see and test the new Apex irons.

Good work keeping that promise, C! If I was buying new just to scratch the itch, I might take a look at the Ben Hogan line just for the pure beauty. They all can hit good shots, so get some eye candy!

What about trying your i95 shaft in the g25s??

go try an i210 at a PING fitting facility nearest you and see for yourself. ;)
