Right now yes, before this I was buying a lot of wet shaving gear. More custom and high end straight razors along with some other stuff. Most range at the price of a new driver or milled putter so yeah not cheap.

OK...you do what ?? with what?? For shaving..right?...I'm so out of touch..lol.

Like old school shaving. Funny enough yeah it can become a hobby, anything can become a hobby.

With that said it's crazy how much I've spent on that stuff. Could probably buy 2 full bags of clubs.

Golf is far and away my most expensive hobby, yes. That said, the escapism and enjoyment it provides me is priceless.

    Wow some have expensive hobbies.....

Here in Canada (particularly Ontario & Toronto area) if you have a membership at any decent club (not talking ultra-exclusive or 4 season club), you are running $10,000/yr when you add up your expenses as while dues seem reasonable, add taxes, minimums, guests, any games outside the club, events, assessments......

    Oh and the initiation too.

Parenting and pet ownership crush golf... about $3k in vet bills/meds/boarding in the last 6 months (2 dogs that eventually had to be put down) and about the same amount in childcare for this year. Even assuming $1000 spent on equipment and $150 per month to play (average $40/round, 3-4 times/month), I would still fall short of my kid or pet expenses from last year.

When I played tournament softball, I also spent at least as much (likely more) than golf. $50/weekend in tourney fees, $200 per season per night for league fees (usually 2 weeknights), $100+ for each team's uniform, $200 glove, minimum of 2 $300 bats (one for each major tournament association), $50/dozen for balls, $400 for a pitching machine for practice, $100 for a hitting net, batting cage fees, hotels, meals, gas, etc.

Fishing, definitely. I can take one set of golf clubs to any golf course. But I can't take a light action inshore rod tuna fishing.

I don't know if travel is considered a hobby. If so, that would be the most expensive. If not, then yes, golf.

Second this. Waterfowl hunting is by far what sucks my bank dry. And being opposite seasons from golf doesn't give my wallet a break either.

It's pretty much my only hobby, so yes. Even if you include my love for firearms, fishing, and occasionally hunting, it's still much more expensive due to my obsession with the game and tendency to tinker with new clubs constantly.

NO way. It's Sports cars. I have 3 sports cars, and am a member at a Private Racetrack, and a Driving Instructor. This can get VERY EXPEN$IVE, very fast for broken/worn out parts, sticky tires, new widgets, maintenance, and on and on.

The way i see it, golf and related expenses are just a "cost of living". Without it id lose my sanity and not be able to live!!

I have to agree with a few of the guys above in saying its a lifestyle more than a hobby in many ways bc of the social aspect that can be applied with it. Everything from common ground with business associates/clients/partners, to playing on the weekends with old buddies or just playing alone to escape the daily madness.

Wow, a kindred spirit. That is exactly how I feel about golf.

Nope. Mountain biking is much more money for me right now. However, I haven't been playing golf because my arm is quite injured. Bad tendonitis and have to talk with the orthopedic about it. Also, my clubs got stolen as well, so things are going well for me in the golf category.

Shooting was up there last year and I spent much more on that as a hobby.

This year i've spent little to no money on shooting as I have all guns and ammunition I desire.

Golf so far this year I'm probably about £12k spent to pay for:

3 x Memberships at different clubs
    TS3 Driver and 3 Wood + Cobra 3 Wood
    New Electric Trolley
    Flightscope XI+ Launch Monitor
    4 Dozen Pro V1
    4 Dozen AVX
    Clothing

No other hobby comes close for me really, will be buying new irons and wedges this year too and think i may finally buy a Napa before they become unjustifiable for me. The flight scope will get an upgrade to the Tour also which is a further £4k for that alone.
