Fox Harb'r Resort

We will be playing Fox Harb'r in August as part of our Cabot Links trip. Has anyone played it recently? I'm interested in your comments and recommendations.

Also, are there places to eat dinner out of the Resort?

Resort is in the middle of nowhere, you'll probably miss the gates unless you are on GPS. Pretty surreal scenery when you drive in, not too many golf courses have a airport landing strip, you'll drive past it before getting to the clubhouse. Course is good and well kept, but nothing like Cabot.

You could always try driving into Wallace, but the food at the resort is very good in both restaurants in my experience. As stated above, it is in the middle of nowhere for sure but my GPS was able to find it without a problem.

I played there end of September 2018. Really lush and in great shape. Course is fun and really hits its stride on the back 9 that have more ocean views.

Food at restaurant there is as good as it gets. Pricey as is everyday the resort. But unreal food. There is a pub downstairs but not sure how late it’s open. In August you should be good too.

Accommodations there are top notch as well. We did skeet shooting lesson as well and that was a blast.

Northumberland Golf Links Down the street is a hidden gem as well. Always great fast greens.

I’ll go against the grain here. I thought it was very average and completely over priced. My advice would be to have an extra round at Cabot

The course is very well kept and sits on a beautiful piece of land. The back 9 is pretty much all on the Northumberland Strait and has excellent views and atmosphere. The design is pretty cookie-cutter, wide fairways with some generic bunkering and massive greens. It's a very resort style course, I feel like they could have gotten a lot more out of the property although it still is good. The Back 9 on the water is a lot better than the front IMO. Eat dinner at the resort, the restaurant was reasonably priced last time I visited (June of 2018) and the food is very good.

The resort is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and I say that as someone who grew up about an hour away. You'll have to drive 15-20 minutes on backcountry roads to find other restaurants and frankly it wouldn't be worth it. Check out Jost Winery about 5 minutes down the road if you have some time to kill, it's a nice spot.

Where else are you playing? I'd echo the sentiment above that an extra round at Cabot would be a better use of time and money, considering Fox Harb'r will be over an hour out of your way from the route up to Inverness. Perhaps I'm being overly hard on Fox Harb'r but I feel you can either play a better course for the price point (Cabot) OR find a better deal elsewhere for a similar caliber course (Links at Brunello, Bell Bay, The Lakes, Glen Arbour, even Northumberland Links if you wish to have another coastal round). If you're just as interested in the resort as the golf, then ignore all that as the accommodations and experience are lovely. From a purely golf standpoint, the above applies.

We are playing one round at Links at Brunello, two at Fox Harb'r and then four at Cabot Links. So we will probably eat dinner at Fox both nights.

I'll check out Jost Winery. We also plan to do the sporting clay shooting.

That is one heck of a golf trip.

I would buy a beer to anyone who gets around Brunello on 1 ball. Course is in immacculate shape though I bet, as always.

Can't go wrong at cabot. World class experience.

For consistency, shouldn’t it be spelled ‘F’x Harb’r Res’rt’? ; )

You have to play Northumberland Links in Pugwash. Hidden gem!

It was wonderful. The course was in perfect condition. The resort is quite nice and the food was very good. I would go back if it were not so hard to get there.
