So how much money did you spend on golf equipment this year?

I just did a tally on all my golf equipment spending in the year of 2018, including golf clubs, grips, shafts, club fitting, and club work at Golf Galaxy and two local golf shops. The total is $5,411.19. It includes:

- Three sets of golf irons;

- two drivers, one Callaway and one Ping;

- New Callaway Rogue fairway woods and hybrids;

- Two sets of Vokey wedges - one SM6 set and one SM7 set;

- A new Evnroll putter;

- A few after-market shafts;

- Balls, Grips, etc.

Am I too wasteful? How much have you spent for the year of 2018?

    Dang that’s a lot of cash. I spent $750 this year. Machine putter, Ping G400 driver and Vokey SM6, and custom sunfish headcover. No irons which was an accomplishment for me:)

    Hmm.... I am trying to hold myself back so did okay this year I think.

    $350 - Titleist golf bag

    $200 - Titleist 915fd

    $150 - Footjoy golf shoes

    $110 - Range finder

    $100 - Golf balls

    3 dozen Srixon Zstar (big sale), Regriped 1 club myself, a new leather glove. So a total of about $100. Also got a new Vokey lob wedge for free.

    Year before about the same plus a used mint condition Cleveland Launcher from ebay for $60 which I still hit further than all my friends with newer drivers image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    So to the OP to answer your question, your number sounds beyond insanely wasteful (since you asked). I have to ask, WHY?

    At first thought, $5400 does seem like a lot to spend on golf for a year. I got to thinking about what I used to spend quail hunting in Texas and decided I better not judge.

    I did the math just to see how far gone I am, and to see where I can cut for 2019. In 2018 I acquired $3634 in golf equipment; spending $1497 out of pocket, buying over $1300 worth through store credit off of consignment sales. The rest is accounted for by gifts and trades.

    Breaking it down by area, I included grips and shafts by club type. But split out headcovers to see how bad I overspent. (out of pocket in parenthesis)

    Drivers: $599 ($199)

    Fairways: $69 ($69)

    Hybrids: $269 ($19)

    Irons: $928 ($398)

    Putters: $957 ($185)

    About $590. Normally spend under $100/season as I like what have but I m[background=transparent]issed the past two seasons with rotator cuff surgeries and had to readjust quite a few things after this. Still, [/background]I absolutely love searching for neat deals.
    1. Two pair of FJ DNX 2.0s for about $220 from a few online vendors. I didn't bother replacing shoes during the time away. Initially started back in some Merrell hiking shoes I had and my Achilles were killing me to the point I almost stopped. Good shoes make such a difference.
    2. Clic Gear 3.5+ push cart NIB from Craigslist for $160. Pulling the trusty Bag Boy seemed like a bad idea.
    3. TM Rescue Dual TP 22* for $25 off eBay. My 3 iron with DG S300 is now pointless.
    4. TM R11 Rescue TP 25* for $35 off eBay. Was initially having trouble with my 4 iron and bought this for potential use as I get older. I much prefer a 4 iron.
    5. Cleveland RTX3 58* black for $25 from Galaxy. Figured it was a cheap experiment and I actually think it may make the main bag.
    6. MacGregor Fat Lady by Bobby Grace for $15 from PIA. Quite nice #2 putter.
    7. [background=transparent]This year's main score is a really nice 4 - PW set of Titleist 735CM forged stainless with UST Proforce Rv2 115 R-flex graphite shafts for $75 off eBay. Thinking of reshafting my MacGregors to R-flex heavy graphite and this is a perfect experiment before going all in. Plus, I always wanted to try a set of these. Definite keepers![/background]
    8. [background=transparent]A set of 8 Lamkin grips for $35 after I use the Titleist for a few months. [/background]

    I figured it up the other day. Actually I should say my wife figured it up the other day. Way too much to go into detail, but total was around 12,000.00. I sold about 7,000.00 though so it really was about 5000.00

    Way too much honestly we are buying a new house this year so this number will be drastically reduced to a few hundred dollars image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> thousand dollars max!!!
