Broken 3 wood tip options

Here is the deal. I have an aldila 110MSI x stiff shaft that was installed in a callaway wood. Was previously tipped 1 inch. Well, while removing, I broke the dang shaft (oops). Now I have a little more than 1 inch of parallel section remaining. I think this equates to 2" of tipping. I have half a mind to prep and install in another 3 wood head and extend to playing length. Curious as to how the experts think this will play. Shaft is the silver. I think it may work, always worth a shot right?
I felt really good about that shot....
Until I hit it.

Maybe stick it in a 4 wood or 5 wood and leave the length alone. Just add a little weight to the head.

I play all my fairways an inch short and tipped and extra half inch. Work just fine with a little lead tape or hot melt to get the SW back up.

It’s that or extend it or toss the shaft. May as well try it.

Yep no harm in trying albeit I suspect it's toast. That shaft only has a 3" tip section and is designed to be tipped 1" with fairway woods. So tipping 2" isn't leaving much of the tip section at all.

It will be fine. Lots of hard swinging pros tip 1.5 to 2 inches.

My old grafalloy Blue is a stiff flex tipped 2 inches because I didnt really care for the X. Works great.

Hit it this afternoon. I like it. Ball flight is strong and penetrating. Does feel heavier on the strike, but all is working out. We will see how it plays tomorrow. So far so good.
