Golf ball - durability

thecolonelthecolonel Members Posts: 37 ✭✭
Which 'good' golf balls do you rate for durability? As in paintwork lasts a bit longer than others, and don't scuff up too easily. I'm talking say single figures handicap ball here. So mid to high price range, not junk balls.

And what balls do you not buy because they look awful too quickly?

Srixon Z Star, they wear like iron, especially the yellow.

Never kept a ball long enough to find out. Must be nice.

Ive had very good luck with the 2018 chromesofts. I played the yellow truvis ones and even the occasional cart path strike would barely put a scratch in them. I once got 72 holes out of the same ball before i thought it needed replacing.

I bought a 2 dozen of the older chromsofts (not sure which year) on clearance from Academy in July. These things last forever, probably the best I've ever played as far as durability. Not the best performer for me, but if want a ball that will last, these will do.

Srixon Z-star - but these seem to have a harder cover that I hate to say feels to me more like a good "mid range" ball rather than a top-end ball.

Then ProV1/X - these have always been more durable for me than most of their competitors - e.g. TM, Bridgestone, Callaway. Admittedly, they're all pretty durable when it comes to actual structural wear, but Titleist's paint seems to be more durable than the others, which show paint scuffs more readily.
