Would you buy PXG 0311P Gen 1 Irons for a Good Deal ?

Hit-em

Recommended Posts

I'm able to buy a set of the PXG 0311P Gen 1 irons under their Hero's program pretty much for the same price or less then what I'd pay for some of the other OEM's irons

I did try them out on the range when they first came out & really liked the feel, but never had a chance to play a round with them, so I have no idea of how they'd play on the course

Wondering what guys who have had these & played them in the past years think about them ?

Good, Bad or Indifferent ?

I'm 68 yrs old & play to a 12 HCP

Looking forward to hearing thoughts & opinions on what would you do

Yes, they are no more expensive that way than anything else and are good irons.

PXG is growing on me to be honest. I wouldnt pay some of their prices but their black irons do look good.

New driver looks good and I honestly think its priced okay.

While I'd never pay new issue retail for PXG's, if I was in your shoes, I'd lose no sleep over pulling the trigger. They're great clubs.

Its not up to me, that said, gen 1 is the older model, so price wise, still cost more than an equal older model club from different OEM. Its a great way for PXG to move older model clubs out of the warehouses, and they are still new to you, so give em a whirl, you may

play great with them.

I made the switch at the beginning of last year. Was at a fitting a while back and didn't even want to try the PXG cause of the cost. Tried them and liked tem a lot butcouldn't justify the cost. When the heros program came out I went back and forth for a while. I already had a new set that Iiked but the cost with the hero program made it too interesting not to try. They quickly made their way into the bag and havnt left since. I find them to be very forgiving, they feel fantastic, and are reasonably workable. Since I have added a hybrid (crazy underrated), a driving iron, and most recently ordered a back up set and couldn't be happier.

If they look and feel good to you then go for it.

I really appreciate all the feedback ..

I was thinking of doing a mixed set 5-7 in the Players & 8-PW in the Tours

Just not sure about the shaft ..I know it'll be graphite just not sure which one that they offer I'll go with

I'm presently playing the Onoff Kuro's & have never had much luck with allot of offset

I'm going up to local shop tomorrow to check out the Gen 2 irons to check out the offset on the Players & Tours, the shop no longer has any of the Gen 1 in stock, but figure the Gen 2's should give me an idea of how much offset the Gen 1's have ..

I prefer the look of the Gen 1 irons better. I haven’t had the opportunity to hit any of the models but like the 0311T the best based on looks alone.

Fairway: Titleist 917F2
Hybrid: A-Grind

Well I just placed an order for the 0331P Gen1's 5-GW with the Accra i80 Reg shaft

I've never played an Accra shaft before,I didn't want to go too light, from talking to the people at PXG they said it has a very smooth feel to it & that you can feel the load during the swing ..I guess I'll see if it's a keeper

They also offered the Steelfiber i70 but I've never liked the feel of the Steelfiber's shafts plus I didn't want to go that light

Went up to my local golf shop to check out the difference between the 0331P's & the 0331T's as far as offset & really did see that much of a difference

You can definitely see that the T's have less offset but IMO the P's look great behind the ball just as you would expect a players iron to look like without too much offset

Looking forward to getting these out on the course now all I have to do is wait for Spring ...

  • 2 months later...

I simply couldn’t resist the discounted direct price for the O311T’s so I broke down and ordered 4-PW today. I wonder how much better the newer Gen2’s are? For me at least the price alone made it a huge value. Also, once they run out they are gone. Meanwhile, most purchased these irons at a far greater price point. Can’t wait to see if these kick my 19’ Cobra King Pro CB’s out of the bag! BB

As a vet I was reading their hero’s program and got interested. Why not.

Was wondering which Gen1 irons were close the the P790’s.

Yeah theyve been out of the PXG gen 1 0311 irons for a while now you can get the 0311Ts still. Im a lefty and they dont have the 4 or 7 iron in LH anymore. I have set of the Gen1 and Ive hit and owned other new offerings like the 919 Forged and the 2019 Apex. Still come back to the 0311s. I may get the 0311Ts in the 7-PW or 6-PW. Cant beat Heroes price. I was NOT a fan of the Gen1 woods. Hybrids are great though.
