Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro Blue 70 vs PING Alta CB 70 Red

PING Alta CB 70 Red Soft Regular 69.0gPing.Clubs.Specs.Weight.Units High

These two shafts are options when buying the Ping G410 hybrids. If you have a slower swing speed, which shaft would be better? The Mitsubishi seems to be lighter in weight and both have a high launch. Anyone know for sure?

I am trying to determine the same thing. My driver swing speed is around 95 MPH. I think the soft regular would not hold up for me so I am trying to decide between the 2 regular versions of these shafts.

My guess is that either will perform well but I would love to hit both before buying.

At this point my local fitter only has the A-CB.

I've only hit the alta, but did compare it to various kbs proto, and oban options, and it just worked better. If as the season goes I gain some clubhead speed it may not, but don't write off Ping stock shafts, they do things differently to the other brands.

I have hit the Alta 70 in a 3 hybrid (s flex), but not the Tensei. From Mitsubishi's website, The 70 R has a true weight of 69g and a mid kick point which should translate to a mid launch and spin, probably more mid-high with an R flex shaft. As for the Alta, it looks like the 70 soft R is a true 69g with high launch and the 70 R is a true 73g w/ mid-high launch (info not direct from Ping). The 70 S I hit, the fitter told me the actual weight is 78g. Unfortunately, I have yet to be able to find detailed specs on Alta shafts from Ping. If anyone has some or finds some I'd love to see them. I wouldn't suspect the weights to effect your numbers too much given they're all close. Since the Alta is a soft R, it could lead to more deflection in your swing I guess, but I don't know how a Alta soft R compares to a Tensei R (weight would say they're about the same). The little bit of info I've found on the Alta (soft R) says it has a high launch angle. Tensei says MID for the kick point (on website) so this could mean the launch is slightly lower for the Tensei. I don't know for sure and I'm far from an expert. Ideal thing would be to feel and swing both, but if that's not an option, my guess is the differences between the two would be minimal for you.

I did a fitting for a 17* G410 hybrid, and got better distance and MUCH better dispersion with the Tensei. This surprised me a bit; the stock Ping driver shafts since the G30 have just been superb. But this wasn't a close call. I've played the club quite a bit now, and I'm very pleased with the club and the shaft.
