Pearland Area CC

Recommended Posts

My wife and I will be moving to the Pearland area this summer. A big decision on where we end up buying a home will be based on proximity to golf. We are moving for reasons that predominantly involve my wife, so I said I would like to live near a CC if possible. We are both young (28) with no kids yet and very active.

We are searching for a country club environment that has the following to offer

- quality course (doesnt have to be top 100 quality or anything crazy)

- pool area

- fitness room/weight room

- "younger" majority demographic of members

Given those specifics, does anyone have recommendations on one that fits the mold?

Thanks, PD

Unfortunately you're not going to find that in the Pearland area. Golfcrest Country Club is a great spot to be, but does not have a weight room and the demographic is mostly 40+. Just south of Pearland in the League City area is Magnolia Creek which is a links style 27 hole facility which is part of the ClubCorp group. South Shore Harbour is also in League City and it's part of the same package with Mag Creek. So, 1 membership and 54 holes between those two facilities. SS might also have a fitness center and I know the demographic is in your range out at Mag Creek.

I agree with above. But I would say the members at Golfcrest are mostly 45 - 50+. I was a member there for 2 years back in the early 90's when my parents lived there and I played with my Dad. I'm a member at Mag creek and have been for 8 years. Great Links course that always in great shape. Very nice practice facilities as well, members are anywhere from late 20's to retired. Relatively easy to get tee times as well. Anytime you want to play PM me.

Bay Oaks fits the bill. The GM there used to be the GM at our club, shoot me an email if you want his contact info. [email protected]

Unfortunately you are moving to a part of Greater Houston that is not rich with country clubs. Lots of good golf in the area but nothing that you have described. I used to live in Pearland years ago and still play down there occasionally.

I would agree with Hehateme (he!! of a screen name), Bay Oaks is probably your best bet on the South/SouthEast side of Houston. But, depending upon where you are planning to move to in Pearland, you could be looking at up to an hour drive to get to Bay Oaks.

The club where I live/belong has what you are looking for but we are a long long way from Pearland. I am guessing you are moving to that area for employment reasons.

We will likely be buying a home in Magnolia Creek (or that general area) as my wife just got the head PE job for a new elementary school that is being built. Magnolia Creek and Southshore will be on my list to check out as I think those will best fit what we are looking for.

I am a member out at magnolia Creek / South shore and fit the younger demographic. As has been mentioned there is no fitness or pool but the price is pretty reasonable especially if you're under 40. You could consider joining South shore fitness center as well which is completely separate but just North of South shore golf club and has a very nice fitness center and pool.

If you want to play a round or get more info feel free to PM me.
