Been going back and forth between the two and can't decide. Love the feel of the 210 but the distance gains and the looks of the 500 are on a whole New level. I've read all the threads and I'm more confused than ever. I'm now putting in the hands of my fellow WRXers please help me make a decision.

After I hit the i500’s, for me, I didn’t even waste my fitters time with the 210’s. For me, the i500’s felt great and sounded great and the flight and distance were exactly what I was looking for. They look great in the bag and behind the ball; offset is minimal and dangit...I just like them. Could I have missed out not testing the 210’s...maybe...but I didn’t want To create the same issue you’re having. But for me in the end, I didn’t like the looks of the 210 near as much as the 500’s and there’s something to that.

I'd go with the I210's as well. Power Spec should be close enough distance wise. My I500s feel terrible (even with extra hotmelt added) and will soon be replaced with an I210 / Iblade combo. Also, I'm not a Taylormade guy, but P790's feel a lot better than the I500's if you wanted to stay with a distance iron. Good luck.

Make sure lie angle is spot on with i500. They require a middle strike to feel good. Use some impact tape and see what I mean. Any off center and it’s clanky. Middle. Soft as can be.

Lead tape on the back helps the feel and cuts a lot of vibration just FYI.

I recently got a set of the i500's. After playing forged irons for a decade,I was worried about feel. I had the opportunity to play few rounds before committing and even on cold wet days, I did not have feel they were harsh in any way. I do not notice much difference in feel except maybe more crisp on a thinned shot.

For me, the i500 flies high and straight, can be worked if I want to and is more forgiving. They are 1/2 to a full club longer which is nice, but I like that it's giving me very consistent trajectory and distance. If I'm between clubs, it's very easy to grab the shorter iron and put an aggressive swing on it and get good results.

For me, this set gives me a LOT of what I love about my forged irons and I believe my HDCP will drop this season with these in the bag. I want to be a 10 by my 60th b-day end of July.

It is a shame that I read so many posts on the sub-par feel of the i500’s they really are a handsome set of sticks.

I agree. Pretty slick looking clubs. Very Interesting though. Some people seem to have no issues at all with the sound and “feel” and some seem to hate them.

I guess I need to hit them to see what the divergent opinions are all about. Maybe Ping needs to add their own magic goo.

...hehehe. I just put a bid in on a set on the Bay. Winter Boredom is so dangerous for my paypal account... ; )

Agree with this 100%. I500 feels fine with good contact. Get the right fit and good contact happens more frequently.

I picked up a set and love the effortless distance. For me, it's not so much about the distance I've picked up (though the 3 is a rocket launcher), it is really about hitting my normal distances with a far more controlled swing.

The i210 won't be much different than the i200's in your signature. Heck, you could stick with your i200's for another year.

The i500 would seem to be nice for someone who needs extra distance; but you are playing X shafts in your woods, so I would think that distance is not an issue for you.

If you absolutely must have new sticks, and only if, buy a 6-iron from each set and evaluate over a period of time.

It’s all in the strike. I’m telling you. They just don’t give a lot of “ feel forgiveness “. If that makes sense.

Yes. Truth x100. Not about more distance. Just controlled distance. That’s the change I’ve seen and made. It’s added shots to my arsenal. Not taken them away.

The heart wants what the heart needs.

I've found the i500's to be forgiving to a fault. I've put a number of poor swings on mine, including one so bad off the toe the ball caught very little grooves, and it landed ~5 yards short and right. Much better result than I deserved. The feel isn't butter if hit off center, but what club really does. Go with the set that reminds you of your sexy college late night call. You won't be disappointed.

I own both.... Same shaft in both, Had my lowest round ever my second round with the i500.... 9 iron had what I thought could have been a crack, Ping replaced it in less then a week.... I bought the i210s while I was waiting, today I played a round with the i210, I bought the i210 in power spec, I don’t see much difference in distance, but the i210 has a much softer feel... and it’s 30 degrees here in Jersey

I know this may not be a popular sentiment but the guy your beating doesn’t know how your club feels. Feel is so subjective and in a round of golf how many seconds total do we feel the shot anyway. Everyone looks at feel a bit different but my opinion is get what works best for your game. I went from legacy blacks that felt great to g700 because they just perform for my 8hcp game.

Just my $.02

Good luck and hit em straight.

All Clubs subject to change relative to my last bad round of golf......

I 210 w power spec. Done.

Agree...I’d take precision with the i210s over not knowing if my 7 iron is going to go 150 or 165 in the i500s.

Keep in mind though if you go with the Power spec the bounce will change ever so slightly
