Pine Dunes

Haven't played there is a couple of years but the greens were always in really good shape and the fairways were just in good shape. It's a good course but certainly not great and with as many trees as there are, I never found it boring, lol.

Unless you are dead set on Pine Dunes, there are 2 other course you might consider. Links of Lands End is probably not in quite as good a shape but is definitely a more fun course to play. But my personal favorite is Squaw Valley in Glen Rose. Has 36 holes that is always in good shape and both are very fun courses to play. Again, I wouldn't put the conditions in the "great" category for any of these courses but Glen Rose is definitely the most fun to play. We have a group of 4-6 couples that go to Glen Rose every year and haven't been back to Pine or Links since we discovered it. And it is definitely a better value.

Update: May 18, 2019

I played Pine Dunes today. Too bad for me, the greens were aerated about 2 weeks ago by the looks of it. They were bumpy and extremely slow. So slow it was painful. Several of the Tee Boxes need to be re-sodded. Not in too good of shape. The fairways were I guess I would say decent but certainly not up to the standard that Pine Dunes has always provided. Some were in great shape but a few others had areas that are in dire need of some attention. Hopefully they'll get the course back into the shape soon.

Play there yesterday. The greens were very nice but very slow. That echoes what others have said, a very wet spring and no real heat yet To burn off the bad grass. The barkers were good the fairways were good and some of the tea boxes do you need to be re-sodded. I’m sure it’s really hard to grow some grass in those areas where the heat is stifling. Solid 8.5 out of 10

I was just out there for the first time. Awesome course, one of the best layouts i've ever played. Greens are fully recovered from the dryject or aerification. There's algae on the tees and the edges of the greens; it cost me one shot on a putt. However, there are usually playable areas with good turf on all of the teeboxes. Fairways and bunkers are great. Fantastic experience; I highly recommend making the trip and playing the course.

Thats good news. Pine Dunes is always absolutely immaculate condition. Ive been going there for 10 years, and 3 weeks ago was the worse Ive ever seen it. But you're right. Its a fantastic course.

It's back to normal now. Played it over mem day and it was meh. July 4th weekend course was in great shape. All greens are back to where you'd expect with very few bad spots. Still some wet spots given the soaking it got in the spring

After 63 holes at Pine Dunes Friday/Saturday I can report the course is in absolutely incredible condition. Greens were rolling great although difficult for me to read, sand was great quality and I saw quite a bit of it! Overall a wonderful experience and it's hard to beat the stay and play deal. At around $300 total we got 3 rounds of golf and an overnight stay at the condos beside 18 green. Honestly our only complaint was the lack of trash receptacles on the course. Definitely glad we got to check it out.
