What is the miss if you are using a putter with too much toe hang for your stroke?

If am currently playing a Never Compromise Milled #5, but I am looking for a new putter. I am curious as to what the predominent miss would be if I was more suited to a face balance putter? I hope this makes sense.

It depends on your back swing. If you keep the face closed on the backswing, you'll pull it left but if you let the face open you'll push it right. Basically you'll be spraying the ball left and right. You can tell that you're NOT suited to a face balanced putter if you try one and you consistently push the ball right as that indicates that you have a gated stroke and need something with some toe hang.

Couldn't have said it better Martin. I'm a SBST Putter and need something face balanced, or close to it. I have found that when I use a putter with more toe hang than I am used to, I will miss right, as the tendancy is to open the face on the backstroke and have it come back to square. When using a SBST Sroke, the face can open on the backstrokedue to the weighting, but you don't have the gated motion to close it back.

That's my experience at least.

I would guess, as with the full swing, the face is either closed through impact or your stroke is cutting across the line with a square face to your path. I would check your mechanics and stroke path before deciding on a putter. An improperly fit putter (length and lie) can lead to all sorts of issues.

It's also quite possible that the putter is fine but the technique is off. That's my finding after getting on a SAM Putt Lab. I take the club straight back but open the face and then keep it open through inpact therfore pushing it right. A little toe hang might help me but working on a proper stroke will reap more rewards.

Yea, I know, that requires a lot of work. I wasn't very happy with the reports either. I was hoping that there was an answer in a new magic putter.
