What gets your vote for the best iron set of the last 5 years, and why?

What's your idea of the best iron set of the last 5 years, and why? Looking for something new to try out but don't want to spend a fortune on 2019 clubs.

What are some good irons that can hang with the latest and greatest, and why?

PING G400. Plays like a shovel full of forgiveness, but has a nice look at address with a thinner topline and a narrower sole than all previous G series. Nice sound and feel, less offset than previous models. They were just discounted as well.

Ap2 718 but they are current so higher price so try Cally cf16 unreal iron with many threads on it.

I’m still playing tm tp cbs. Just enough forgiveness, progressive minimal offset, technology with the slots, modern lofts and progressive head sizes. Im not sure what else you could have in an iron for a mid single digit handicapper...

ping I e1. extremely forgiving, very soft feel. To me these were the last set ping made before they started thinning out the faces for distance, and lost some of the feel. I have tried every ping iron since, and they all felt harder, and more "clicky" Those were with the same shaft as well.

from a perspective of cost, feel. looks, playability, would go with JPX 900F, especially if you launch the ball a bit higher, and are a higher spin player.

I have owned 3 sets, still own 2, 1 new.

Just on looks, Cobra Pro Forged.

I think the Ping I series irons are one of the only sets on the market where you could truly hand them to any player, from beginner to +4 index, and they would be very playable and also look the part in whomever's bag. Like you wouldn't judge a newbie for using them, but they also wouldn't be out of place in a PGA tour player's bag

So i'd go I200 or I210

I think most of the reason these are so popular is because they all fit a wide variety of golfers. Smaller profiles for the better player with some forgiveness technology.

Unless you've tried EVERY set, then it's a pretty redundant question.

I've tried and owned a Yonex xp set, Benross Compressor and now DYNACRAFT Prophet Muscle blades.

I'm going with the DYNACRAFT, but I'm guessing I'll be the only one :)

My vote goes for Wilson FG V6. Just plain sexy and buttery soft.

716 CB or Miura CB57

Pretty sure you could still buy the VR Pros in 2014, so I'm going to go with them. Long, forgiving for a blade, look and feel awesome and capable of putting a frankly obscene amount of spin on a golf ball.

I just made an investment in Cobra Fly-Z Plus think these may be them. So far, so good............

I think the 900 Tour has to be one of the most impressive sets with the number of non-sponsored professionals & WRXer’s that had success with them.

My favorites are the Miura CB57s, but I think overall the best would be AP2s probably. I haven’t played a set since the 712 series but I’ve hit the current ones at demo and it’s seems to me they’ve just improved on an already great formula. Players looks with some decent forgiveness built in.

The blue top flite box set is pretty bomb

I just made an investment in Cobra Fly-Z Plus think these may be them. So far, so good............

Almost got these. They’re lovely. But I ended up in 745s instead...we’ll see if I chose wisely or not.

My Ping iE1's with recoil 125 shafts get a vote, I hit those very well for me. Like a club junkie I sold em off, too good. Kept the shafts, need some more iE1's. My i200's have kept me from buying more iE1's so they get my vote as well.
