I'm getting ready for an upcoming golf trip and decided to tabulate the replacement cost for my bag in the event it were damaged/lost.

I knew I had sunk a lot of $ into my bag, but I was pretty shocked to see the total come to over $6,200 CAD (~$5,000 USD) before tax.

Has anybody else ever done this exercise?

With replacement cost (and with likely higher cost to current model), in Can $ (add about a third for Can prices) mine is more than the OP and I'm not counting the balls, gloves etc...just clubs in the bag, bags and electronics. Went up say 20 percent in one year recently just from jump in US-CDN exchange rate.

This is quite a bit more than the sports rider on my home insurance so I pay extra for home insurnance policy rider and update the list annually for them. And keep receipts. At least every few months there is a thread on here about stolen or broken clubs and don't have insurance, or don't have receipts etc. Good luck IMO claiming that kind of dough on home insurance without a rider or at least detailed receipts.

Wait, what? You paid $400 Cdn for a Titleist bag? And you only paid $50 for your sunglasses?

Are you sure they weren't $400 Oakleys with exchangeable Polarized lenses?

LOL, starting with prices paid almost exclusively on eBay...

Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver $200

Taylormade Jetspeed 5W $75

Ping G5 22* Hybrid $0 (Hand me down)

Mizuno MX-23's $0 (Hand me down)

Cleveland RTX2 wedges $175 for 50, 54 58 setup

Ping Ketsch $115

Ogio Stand Bag $65

So a total of $630.....might have to look into this sports rider for the home insurance policy.

I guess we're assuming we want to replace what's in the current bag. What WRX'er does that? There a more new and expensive clubs to try.

That's the point of keeping a listing for insurance of replacement cost.

Such as the newer model cost of my Ping clubs. If something bad happens (I hope not, but that's why one buys insurance), the insurer probably will be ok with a different brand etc as long as it's close to the previously declared/listed replacement value.

My Miuras have actually appreciated in replacement cost for the same model since I got them, probably attributed to the decrease in buying power of CDN dollars.

I think the point here is.

You fly to the 5 day golf trip with your buddies, your bag is gone and you need replacements now. You file your claim with your insurance company. They say go get a new bag full of stuff and your deductible is $500. You go to the Pgatss and get the cart full of stuff on your list. Show up for your money game that afternoon. No shopping around, no bst, no ebay. One purchase right now. Sounds cool to me.

Yup. Though in the scenario above, if you want to replace with other than stock shafts etc. you might be renting clubs for the golf trip and replacing clubs to your specs on return home. Or the insurer says get 'em now and we'll cover the upgrades later. But I wouldn't be surprised if the shop would not just do a free loan of demos for a couple of days on placing the order for a full bag while they did the full meal deal setup for you.

With a separate rider you may have no (or minimal) deductible and it may not affect one's overall household insurance if there is a claim depending on the policy. Mine also covers breakage.
