Golf Digest Hot List 2019?

mtnbiker5mtnbiker5 Members Posts: 310 ✭✭
Is it me or is the Golf Digest Hot List a complete waste of time? I don't know how anyone with half a brain can serious read and review any of the reviews they have this year and make heads or tails of what is good and what isn't. Do they ever give a bad review of any product that is out there? Just curious.....

Stay woke- it’s pay to play on that list. Purely advertisement.

Gotta stay woke! Lot of fake news out there. SAD!

This has been common knowledge for years. The big advertisers get automatic gold and it's more of an advertisement itself than any sort of meaningful review.

I receive Golf Digest for free, but its still a god awful magazine. It used to be....well, decent I suppose but it has really lost its way.

I have to say I do like the remake of Golf Magazine. It seems far superior to me.

+1 on the new Golf Magazine format. Makes it even better. Their equipment issue that just dropped is just right...almost everything is there with just a blurb from a fitter. That’s it. GD kind of blows right now and has for a while....

Garbage. I used to get so excited for that issue to come out, but it's a waste of time now. The reviews are worthless (everyone gets a gold star unless they are a secondary brand that doesn't advertise in GD).

I also used to like it because it provided the first glimpse of the coming year's product lines. But now most of those things get leaked (or released) before the show in Orlando so it's old news by the time they get mentioned in the magazine.

Good indicator of what manufacturers spend in advertising dollars.

That magazine, and especially this issue, are total garbage. The list is such BS and is clearly pay to play... it's unfortunate because such a publication could really do its readers some good by accurately rating some of the lesser known brands where they belong. But I get it... they need Titleist, TM, Ping, and Cally to survive....

I get it for free also and it blows my mind that irons like the Z785 get a silver at a cost they have listed at $1000 which is pretty much less than almost ALL the others... I have been really surprised by Srixon's quality over the last few years and for the money, they are gold in every way. Just makes the whole thing seem like a waste of time.

How many of the fitters were from True Spec? Golf Magazine and True Spec are owned by the same company (8am Golf).

To be perfectly honest, I think the Z785 irons are the best-looking PCB out there right now including the '19 X Forged, 718 CB, and everything else. Stock with a Modus 120 is just icing on the cake. The Z785 woods are also wonderful.. hope to try one at some point.
