I joined golfballselector.com and am confused on how it works. I've gone thru and answered the questions. Near the end, I get a "bar chart" showing some suggested balls. Everytime, the Nike One Platinum is #1 at 100% and the Pro V1 #2 at like 98.2%. The next screenshows two boxes, one marked objectives and the other marked alternatives and is supposed to have some sliders to move around, but there are none. The next screen show five top suggested balls which are completely different from the screen with the bar chart. 3 of the 5 are Pinnacle balls which makes me a bit suspicious. The other two are the Noodle+ and Srixon AD333.

I've used the Srixon ball before and can't get it to stay on the green. Right now I'm using the NXT Tour(2007) and have played with some Pro V1x's that I picked up used/recycled. The only difference I've found between the two is the NXT will be within 2 feet of my ball mark on the green and the Pro V1x is usually within a foot or so.

Am I doing something wrong?

First, thanks for your subscription. I am sorry that you are having an issue. I just sent you an email regarding your issue with the GolfBallSelector.com. The last three screens should all reflect the same golf balls. We are currently not aware of any browser issues but it sounds like something odd is going on.

Just reply to my email and let's see if we can get this figured out.

Thanks.

Gary, that last screen with the bar sliders doesn't work with any of the browsers using the OS X. They work fine on PCs, and Macs running PC software.

A Mac is a PC. OS X is an operating system based on UNIX. A Mac is nothing more than proprietary hardware selected to work best with OS X. However, you can run any operating system on such proprietary hardware.

Anyway, this isn't a blast. It's more of an explanation so my next question can be better answered.

Does the website work with Linux, such as Ubuntu, or will I have to reboot and log into my Win XP OS?

Interesting. We were able to fix the issues that we were aware of with the Mac platform about 4-6 weeks ago. I am running GolfBallSelector on a Mac/OSX with both Firefox and Safari. If there are some other variations that are not working, then we would certainly like to know so we can try and address them.

Thanks.

That's not exactly true. Try to install Windows on a Mac system without Bootcamp or a virtual machine and see if it works...it won't. This is due to they way the Mac Bios equivalent is setup. But I digress, this is a Golf site.

I ran into some probs with that portion of the site as well at one point but it seemed to have been fixed quickly. I was using Firefox 3 beta 2 on Windows XP Pro at the time. GolfBallSelector.com is a great site and its good to know that there are staff who actively monitor it and frequent Golfwrx.

Well, I have no idea what's wrong, but I can't get this site to work "entirely" on either of my PCs.

(1a) PC using Win XP Home and IE7 - pages take forever to load, or don't load at all, or get an "access denied" screen, eeven though I logged into my premier account just fine.

(1b) same PC as above using Firefox - try to load the analysis questions but the "selection bars" come up as fragmented file errors (I think that's the icon)

(2a) PC using Vista platform & IE7 - get to answer the analysis questions (after constantly reloading & stopping/starting the data) but get no sliders on the last page. At least I was able to generate a suggested list of balls - after an hour or waiting between questions.

I e-mailed the site but got no response :) . Since you all got the site to work, any suggestions???

A PM will trigger my e-mail. Thanks!

I've been working with Gary since Saturday trying to resolve the issue. It seems to be an issue with either IE 7 or Flash Player on my laptop. Everything works fine on my desktop and I downloaded Opera on my laptop and it works fine using Opera.

Gary sent me a PM also, so I'll contact him directly. I do appreciate the comment about the Opera search engine. I never heard of it prior to your post, but I downloaded Opera and the GBS site worked flawlessly! Opera is now my favorite search engine. :partytime2:
