Nashville/Myrtle Beach Golf Trip

Recommended Posts

For the last spring break of my college days, 3 buddies of mine and I are headed east from Fayetteville, AR. We’re going to stop in Nashville to split up the drive and spend the weekend in the Music City. We’re trying to decide on the courses, 5 rounds in 7 days most likely. So far this is what we’re thinking:

-President’s Reserve at Hermitage Golf Club in Nashville

-Fighting Joe at the RTJ Trail in Muscle Shoals, AL

-TPC Myrtle Beach

-Kings North

-Man O War

We’ve also been looking in to some other courses in the Myrtle Beach area, but for the price and what we’ve heard from other friends this seemed to be the best lineup. Does anyone have any recommendations or knowledge about these courses regarding conditions this time of year? The last thing we want is to play on some punched greens so I’ll most likely call for the maintenance schedules before booking. We’re open to any suggestions or tips for sure!

I personally would replace TPC with Caledonia or True Blue and would replace Man O War with Tidewater or Heritage Club

Definitly do The Hermitage, great course. Also, as PNB said, True Blue and Caldonia are great, Heritage is definlty one you should play and probably my favorite course down there for the money is Oyster Bay.

Or on the way down instead of playing The Hermitage, you could skip Nashville all together and come down I24 to Sweetens Cove in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee.

I would skip Man O war as it is nothing special. The other two are solid.

Some of the best in the area are Caledonia, True Blue, Heritage, Kings North, Grande Dunes, Barefoot (skip Norman), and Tidewater just to name a few.

If you are talking March, bermuda grass is dormant or just starting to grow. They overseed tees + fairways so you will see green.

TPC + Kings North are very good and not the highest priced.

Heritage is about the same price as Man O War, will be a big improvement and includes breakfast + lunch.

Grande Dunes is also a good option and if you stay central a short drive.

If $ is no object, you could play Caledonia or Tidewater. There are way more best of MB options than you can play in 3 days.

MOW would be boring after playing TPC + KN. If you keep MOW, play it your 1st round.

If you are going out at night and only want to play 18 holes, consider after 1:00pm for lower rates.

Depending on the day of the week, TPC + KN will be cheaper Mon-Wed.

Courses are spread out, so work on directions + drive times or use GPS.

The premium courses that are recommended are using Dynamic Pricing, which increases as tee times go down.

That is already happening. One of these courses could be $100 one day and $150 the next day, so check the rates

online, before creating your schedule.

At the end of may I am going to Myrtle beach to play Some courses but I wont bring my OWN clubs , the question is can you rent Some golfclubs at a store so I can use them for a few days?

Where can you find the best prices?

Also I've heard Low Country Golf Club Rentals is pretty good.

Many of the upper end courses have rental clubs, but you need to check with the course.

Maybe just play some courses that have rental sets. Try TPC, Grande Dunes, Tidewater, True Blue, Caledonia, Kings North, etc.

At budget courses, they may not have rentals or the rentals might be a bunch of found clubs.

There must not be much demand for rental sets, because stores that specialized in that all seem to fail.
