What’s the beef with Peter Finch and Rick Shiels?

Who cares and why leap to "beef" or "fall out"?

Maybe they changed their business models for their channels, but they are still and obviously pretty good friends based on other social media, etc.

I’m not so sure, I couldn’t see any interaction from them online. I enjoyed their course vlogs if I’m honest and that’s why I asked the question.

I can’t be the only person to notice they don’t talk or reference each other anymore? Any insight into the fall out?

Rick mentioned in passing on one of his videos a few weeks ago that he wouldn't be filming with Peter any more. He didn't expand on it, made a face to camera, then went back to the subject at hand.

It's fairly common to outgrow a friendship though. Given how Pete has increased his content output and started getting a lot more opportunities and sponsors independently of Rick, it's easy to see where potential conflict lies.

Buzza, Pickard and Wiltshire all featured regularly with Crossfield and now don't but there's not any beef as such. Different priorities, circle of influence etc has taken them all in separate paths.

I think they still work out of the same facility, no? Finch is probably like this dude is half the player I am yet he has twice the audience and he's right. He's also half the ****** Finch is too. This is what happens when one guy is extremely likable and the other clearly got beat up in school. I do watch some of their vlogs to fall asleep from time to time. The Championsgate is my favorite for putting me to sleep.

He just stopped in the middle of a club test for this random remark?

What video did this occur on?

One of them was thinking of making his swing more upright, and then the other mentioned he heard on WRX that you shouldn't do that, and then...inevitability happened.

Seems odd that they don't work with each other on any youtube content. Maybe they felt they needed to work more independently in order to build up their individual sites further? Maybe Rick can't spend the time any more with 3 little kids taking more of his time? It would be good for them to clarify what's going on though. It seems a few of the youtubers are starting to focus more on their paid websites (re: M&MG) and less on youtube content. It's too bad Rick and Pete don't work together more though, they were pretty good together with testing, teaching and vlogs.

Is there actually any beef? Or did they realize they had the same channel and needed to diversify?

They were both producing the same content and were a part of each other's content. Their stuff kind of bled together...not what keeps ad revenue up.

Seems they've just diversified content to keep subscribers up. Unless there's true beef, I guarantee they both use the same editing and filming team to split costs but needed content separation.

I think there isn't any beef. These guys work out of the same building. That'd be pretty flipping awkward to have issues, publicize it, and see each other in the coffee room every few minutes.

Separation of their minds will equal more views per channel which equals more money per youtube channel. It is smart for each of them financially to capitalize on it. Hell, Matt Fryer I think made his own channel.

I'll still watch Crossfield over Finch and Shiels though. Something about his sarcasm and over confident sense of attitude grabs my attention.

I've moved on from crossfield. Don't care for his reviews anymore. I replaced him with newton. I just want to see the same guy hit different clubs every release.

For humor in reviews, alex from golfbox cannot be topped.

I hear yea and totally can see that. Newton is a bit dry for me but, he is seemingly detailed and straight to it.

Alex from Golfbox is choice. He has some funny / great content.

I don't watch much of any of the english golf YT channels anymore. Rick is a click bait sell out, Golfaholics>Finch for vlogs, James Robinson is just like every other person hitting clubs into a screen in front of a camera, and Crossfield says 'Nothing matters' basically (see his recent vid on shaft length). Mike Newton is cool but does the same things as TXG but not as good and less exciting. Alex Etches is cool and funny, no issues with him really but it's like 50% entertainment, 50% club stuff.

I have TXG for all my club review/data needs, Golfaholics (although funny that Finch is doing a colab.with them now) for all playing vlogs and random youtube videos for PGA highlights that I miss during the week.

I like the deep technical stuff from txg but their videos require me to be on a 2 hour flight to watch...sooooo long

They are 20 minutes long.

If you have that hardcore of ADD then just skip to the part in the vid where the data is shown.

Sounds like what I do.

Anybody watch Ali Taylor? I watch his channel more because his swing has elements I try to work on. If I watch too much Rick Shiels I go to the range and try to crush the ball with terrible results.

I used to but again... he's doing the same things as everybody else for the most part. He's got more of an everyday man's swing which is cool. He's not pumping 350 yard drives.

I just find TXG and what they do to be so above and beyond the scope of what 99.9% of any youtube channel is doing that I can't go back to watching some guy just slap balls down a range and then put up GCQ data. TXG is like that freaky chick you met at that college party that makes all other girlfriends seem boring from now on.

I was watching Steve Buzza who mentored under Leadbetter . He came to the states and married a really neat lady. They are both now Top 50 teachers under 40 at a club in Florida. He really gives a lot of real world data and strategy to use on the course. They are a bit shy in front of the camera as most of us would be. But they are Real. And that is refreshing.

His channel is on YouTube and surprisingly only has 24,000 subscribers.

I cannot put my finger on it, but something is not accurate about TXG’s numbers. If the player guy could swing that hard and accurate he should be on tour. I find myself doubting them.
