Same Brand of Driver & Fairway Wood

Do you guys tend to stick with the same brand of Driver and Fairway Wood?

Just wondering as I am considering getting a Taylormade M3 driver and Titleist 917 F2 3 wood, i like the slightly bigger heads on the Titliest fairway woods.

I have been told in the past that its best to stick with the same brand though for feel etc but just want to see what other people think!

Nope. Hit what feels and performs best for your game. The score on your card doesn't know what clubs you hit.

I happen to, but that's because they work for me. Go with whichever suits your eye and performs for you. If not looking at the sole of the club, you won't really notice or think about it.

I used to, until yesterday, when I picked up a G400 LST. Now my bag is complete hodgepodge of brands, and I just love that.

Mine do, but that’s because I had the F6 baffler first and loved it and had my previous driver for 3 years so upgraded to the cobra F7 because I wanted the arrcos

My last set of driver/fairways were set matched, it didn’t really work. It looks nice in the bag having matching stuff but getting the right gear is more important.

I am very brand loyal to clubs within the category that gives me confidence, feel and performance. Drivers are cobra, fairway woods are tour edge, irons are mizuno, wedges have recently returned to vokey, and putter is an old odyssey.

I agree that first consideration is “whatever works.” Enroute to that objective I would say that perhaps one factor to consider is shafts from the same performance family. Way after that is the consideration of whether one can get all those matching head covers in a set that is still optimal performance-wise.

Drivers and 3 woods are very different clubs, even within the same product line. Go with what feels right for you. Only once did I have a matching set, that was 12 years ago with the tm burner. I will say, a good 3 wood is harder to find than a driver.

Yes, but not on brand loyalty alone. I’m partial to Titleist, but they also happen to be what’s working best for me right now. I played an M1 driver most of last season, but I’m back into my old 905r right now.

Not brand loyal with much. I do tend to like Callaway Fairway fairway woods, though. I've had a Cally Driver for 5 years ( GBB, Epic) but recently switched to a Ping G400

I have the original Xhot FWs in 3, 4 and 5 with aftermarket shafts and haven't really thought about anything else. They are long, straight and forgiving. They fee/sound great, too.

Fairways are the least likely club in my bag to get changed. I just alternate these three depending on the course.

I usually go with same brand and same shaft. Not sure why, but it works for me.

If the head design and shaft fits you, that's all that matters.

I match the shafts in those clubs. I do not match brand of head (which seems a bit silly)

Driver is Titleist 915D4 with Matrix Black Tie 5m3

3 wood is Titleist 915F with Matrix Black Tie 6m3

3 wood is like a baby driver to me.

My bag is a bunch of everything. Need to update my signature. M2 tour 3wood in there now in place of the g400

With advent of adjustable hosels it kinda makes some sense to remain on board with Taylormade.

He likes their woods, pretty much always has going back to Burner and Bubble shaft era....

Mine don't, but they have in the past. Thinking back on it, it was hit or miss on whether it was a good thing or not. If they were to match, it would be Cobra driver and woods. I currently have a new to me F6 Baffler, but a new M3 driver. Before that, I had the LTD Pro since it came out, and really liked that driver. The M3 just gave me better launch and carry, while keeping the spin down. Saying that, I would have no issues playing the F9 driver, but since I just got my M3 back in November, I won't be buying the F9.

If I find a driver or fw I like I'll demo the complimentary driver or fw to see if I like them as well, but it doesn't work out too often.

By luck of the draw I have the TS2 Driver and 3W....just gave the best results for me. Prior to both of the those clubs I rotated PING G30 driver and RBZ 3W.....and then M2 '17 Driver and PING G400 3W. Nothing wrong with matching or not matching brands as long as they fit your game.

Whatever works play it. I think testing as many brands is the best idea. Put in your bag what works for you.

I like them to set up similarly, which is usually easiest to accomplish with the same brand.

I usually play the same brand in my driver & fairways but not always the same model. My OCD has a few loopholes. LOL.

I love my Cobra Bio Cell+ driver, but I don't like any of their fairways and hybrids. I tried bio cell,fly z,f6, and f8. Everything seemed too upright. Sold them all and went back to my Titleist classics.
