Scotty Cameron Grips

Hi guys, question for the more seasoned Scotty users out there. The Mil-Spec I recently got and immediately fell in love with (thanks Casey!) has the original Titleist Full Cord girp on it, which I quite like despite the fact it has seen better days. I am looking at trying out the Pistolero and Pistolini to compare the rubber grips to the Full Cord. I am wondering which of the rubber grips is more similar in shape/size to the Full Cord I currently use? It seems the Pistolero is more of an axe handle shape and different to the Pistolini/Cord shape, I just want to be sure. Also, what about the new Pistolero Plus that is on the Phantom X putters? Thanks for the help!

The pistolini is definitely more similar to the full cord grip. The pistolero feels bigger in your hands due to the large pistol shape or the “axe handle shape” you referred to above.

I don’t know too much about the pistolero plus, sorry!

Good luck in your search for the perfect grip, it’s a never ending journey!

Pistolero Plus has a bigger bottom hand vs the regular Pistolero. Maybe look for a Cord No Cord grip. Same as your cord but a bit cheaper han the Dancing Cameron Cord grips out there. Or a red cord which are probably the easiest to come by and most affordable.

Careful bout switching over to the pistoleros/lini line

They are waaay heavier than the cord grip that’s on there

Noticeable in swing weight for sure

The heavier pistolini grip for example would make the head feel lighter? I’m not very well-versed in swing weight.

Yes

Very much so

I don’t think I’m ultra picky about that, but I could tell a difference for sure

I'll second this... especially with the Red Cord... they are very easy to track down... i've got 5 in reserve

Thanks for the advice on the Cord grips! I am looking to try a rubber grip (the No Cords are $100+ on eBay... yikes) but I may just stick to a cord grip at this point. Do you find the red to be distracting compared to black?

I've never really noticed...

You should be able to track down red cords for less than $40... I usually grab them when they pop up on facebook

The black cords have been going for around $65... I got impulsive and snatched one up last week

You sir are welcome.

Glad you are enjoying the Mil-Spec. Such a wonderful putter. It may take a couple different attempts to find the right grip but you’ll find it. I thought a I’ve seen a black cord Scotty grip before.....Ebay’s Great but I’d also post a WTB ad.

The SMALL Matador is very close to the same shape as the cord/no cord. Because of the "Winn" type material it's lighter and won't effect swing weight. I have one on my Mil-Spec.

Spin-off question from this. Just started playing a Newport with the stock midsize Matador. I like the feel of my old SS mid-slim but it's quite a bit lighter than the Matador. As far as swing weight goes, would this put more of the weight feeling like it's in the head?

I haven't had one yet to say for certain, but theoretically it should be similar in terms of shape, size and weight.

Bumping this because I’m in the same position now that the OP was. My mil spec’s (34in/340g) original cord grip needs replacing. However, I love the feel of the putter and very wary of replacing it with something that will change the swing weight. I’ve used the pp58 on other putters but I think they’re a bit smaller than the original cord grip?

Can someone tell me what the original Titleist cord grip weight is so I can try to match something to it? Is it 69g?
