I just picked up a set of Srixon 765 irons at standard length and when I got them and put them on my ruler they came out to be like 3/8" over length. The 5 iron states 38" but was actually 38 3/8". Any chance I got a set that was ~1/4" over?

Srixon measures without the grip cap - you’re good on your measurement - and you have a set at standard with Srixon

That was my first thought but doesn’t 3/8 seem too much for a grip cap. I will regrip them so I’ll see if it measures that way without the grip.

I picked up a set of "standard length" Z565's last fall and have the exact same thing, 5 iron is slightly longer than 38 3/8". And the extra length is consistent throughout the set - pretty annoying. I figured that their stated standard length of 38" is without grip, but grip shouldn't add much more than 1/8", so mine are at least 1/4" longer. Also custom ordered a set of Z765's at standard length a couple of years ago and it was the exact same thing. I've had a look at the 85's in store and it looks like for the new irons length is in line with other OEMs' standard length.

Srixon measures all their clubs in a way I have to figure out.

My +.5" Z765 irons came damn near close +.75"

Then my Z785 driver I ordered -.25" to play at 45" and it came almost dead nuts on 45.5".

I raised a fit about the driver and sent it back and they said it measured consistent at 45" and sent it back with a note stating not all forms of measurement are the same.

Sounds like something Ping would do, but with them its always swing weight. I ask for D2, end up getting C9.5, then I complain and they start their whole song and dance about their system for determining SW.

Went by my local retailer today with my Srixon Z565 7-iron, the length of which I measure as 37 3/8" with grip. Compared it with 7 irons from Ping i210/G410, Callaway Apex '19, Mizuno JPX 919 and TM M4 - all of which are listed as having 37" 7- irons. Srixon length matches up exactly with all of these, although I have no clue how they get a 37" measurement out of any of these irons. My 565 was about 1/8" longer than the new 585.

As an aside, the Z585 is noticeably more compact than the Z565 and also better looking. Toe is more squared on the 585 and the transition from hosel to blade is much smoother and less notchy.

Some companies measure down the shaft and some measure to the toe. There is no "standard" across the board unfortunately so that could be the issue. Tried to attach a picture best explaining this. Red is down the shaft measurement and green is grip to toe measurement (think Wilson measures this way too).

Agreed Wilson does the same. Hard to know how to order these.
