Arnold Palmer Cup Rankings

Read an article this morning saying that there was a major shakeup in the rankings and a bunch of top players have basically bowed out.

"The decision by several top players not to participate in this year's matches has reshuffled the deck and has landed a group of new faces atop the standings.

The last ranking saw familiar names top the standings, such as World #1 and U.S. Amateur champ Viktor Hovland, and his Oklahoma State teammate Matthew Wolff, winner of four straight events this season.

But with Oklahoma State deciding not to participate in this year's matches, Hovland and Wolff will not be in attendance at the Alotian Club when the matches commence on June 7.

Others have also withdrawn from the competition, including USC's Justin Suh and Cal's Collin Morikawa who held down the second and third spots in the last U.S. Men's ranking."

What would be the reasoning behind this?

Just a guess, maybe they are going to turn pro after the college season is over.
