BOA Shoes - Why isn't everyone doing this, and Why so expensive?

Title says it all.

Why isn't every shoe manufacturer making the majority of their athletic lines available in BOA? And when they do, why $20 more?

I have a pair of Adidas Tour Boost BOAs, and they are the best pair of Golf Shoes I've ever worn. Can't find a pair of Tour Boost 2's with Boa.

Love my Puma Boa's. Will be hard ever going back to a lace up. Right now i am quite happy to pay a few more bucks.

Love the BOA.

The BOA is great, and I’m also surprised that it hasn’t become more commonplace.

Your two questions may have answered each other? Plus its a different feel, and at least for my foot a different fit than laces. You have 3 or 4 crosses versus 6 or more in regular shoes.

And they are very rigid. My crossknit 2.0 and 3.0 are super comfy I wear the 2.0s just out and about - my new forgefiber boa? Yeah they will be only for the golf course. And that's not just the boa but the feel on the top of your foot is part of it.

I have 4 pairs of FJ with BOA lacing really convenient, specially for lazy folks like me!!!...lol

the flexpoint on boa's are a little bit weird for me and it puts too much torque on my big toe and it feels like my toe is going to rip off

I have a pair of Addias Boost (don't remember the exact model) with the BOA system on the tongue. The shoes themselves are very comfortable. My problem with them is with the lacing system. I have never been able to get them tight enough as there seems to be too much binding where the laces run through the top pulleys. So much so that it strips the coating off the wires and gets jammed up in the pulley. I don't think it is a fault of the BOA system but rather just a bad application. I looked at the ForgedFiber the other day while in Golf Galaxy and maybe having the knob on the side will help some but I would myself wouldn't spend the money on them and take a chance. I looked at the FJ application with the knob on the back and that seems to work much better. Boa has already sent me free of charge a new set of laces but I won't ask them to again as I believe the problem is with the shoe not the lacing system. I really wish they would work better in this shoe because they are really comfortable and the BOA system super convenient and laces the shoes evenly.

I can’t stand the damn things unless they are in the side of the shoe.

I like my shoes very snug and when the Boa is at the top of the tongue it digs into my skin and is almost torturous for me.

I would not wear them if they were free.

Wish all shoes had the BOA's, I have the PUMA's and a UA pair. the new PUMA's with the sole/lace design and BOA look interesting.

I like the concept. I tried on some Adidas shoes with the BOA knob in the tongue. The tongue seemed larger than most shoes, and it dug into the front of my ankle. So, a no-go. I would need to find the ones with the knob on the side of the shoe. I don't like the look of the Foot Joy ones that came out a few years ago with the knob on the back of the heel either.

BOA shoes are all a bit ugly.

I thought the same about the FJ BOA until I wore it. I have a narrow heel, and the boa lacing running on each side around to the heel seems to make the shoe wear a little narrower, like it pulls my foot back into the heel. It’s my favorite shoe.

I can tie regular laces tighter and more comfortably compared to the BOA shoes. Plus I don't like the flex/mobility in BOA shoes as well.

Only complain I have with the BOA lacing is the noise it produces.

Those ones actually aren’t bad at all. These are pretty discrete. I’ve seen some Boa dials that look like they belong on gas stove.

I liked the Boa lacing system but couldn’t find them on a pair a shoes that fit comfortably. A move to Sketchers and ‘speed laces’ have solved the issue.

I never thought I'd see golfers not wearing something because it was "ugly"...has anyone ever seen how golfers dress :)

Also, FWIW, Puma does not use the BOA system...they chose to go with their own technology which according to a couple retailers I've talked to, is vastly inferior to the real thing.

I've tried like 3 different BOA models and I hate pretty much all of them. I have a BOA style Lunar Control shoe and It's SUCH a pain getting these things on.

My first BOA pair is the Ecco Biom 3 hybrid. I like the setup and no issues. Look great as a casual golf shoe for FL weather.

Friggin love my adidas boost boas, comfy and quick and easy to get on an off. Ill look for boa in my next pair of shoes as well.

I am to the point wont buy shoes without boa. Even my daughter has it and loves it

Don't buy BOA if you like to tie your shoes very tightly.

They don't feel right when you dial them down hard - I actually broke my cables by trying to tie them too tightly.

May be dependent on model and fit. My FJ contours and Helix DNAs with BOA fit more snugly than the laced versions, as though the shoe tightens around my heel as well as my instep. So they feel quite tight, and it’s handy being able to give them another click as they loosen mid-round. I could see the BOA that is only on the tongue being different, although I have a pair of road cycling shoes with BOA just on the tongue and they’re excellent.

I’ve often thought when looking at boa. Why not just Velcro ?
