I'm in the middle of converting multiple iron sets to graphite (mci100s, nv105x, and mci120x fwiw)

While at my fitters yesterday I hit some Modus 130x in TM p750 heads, + 1/2"

Loved these things. Consistent launch and TIGHT dispersion with a solid kick. On the surface I'd say it's too much shaft but the numbers were great in my opinion

8 iron ... 23* la, 6700 spin, 158 carry, 50* descent. Not a single ball LEFT!! My Rapture 8 iron was 8000 spin

Long term 1150x softstepped guy if that helps ... and also not a fan of the Modus 105x

I'm a 109mph driver guy in season, was 104.5 ystdy if that helps

How many others are still using these .... thoughts ???? I need another set of shafts like a hole in the head but ........

I have these shafts in my 2-pw MP32's and love them. A few people messaged me asking if I wanted to sell them and when I told them they had these shafts it seemed to scare them away.

I think they are super smooth and not a difficult shaft to play with at all. I had the same experience as you, very consistent and very tight dispersion.

I think I recall Sergio plays these ... which is weird as I followed him around Valderrama in the Fall

I think they are easier (less stout) to launch vs the modus 120x if memory serves as well

Yes, Sergio does play these shafts.

And I agree, these are very easy to launch and I guarantee if I put a piece of masking tape over the 130x the majority of people would not believe what shaft it is. It really is that smooth.

This is WRX my friend. None of the big dogs seem to want a heavy “high launch” shaft.

Everyone needs C Taper 130x’s and DG X7’s and Nippon superpeening blues and project X 6.5’s and hardstepped X100’s.

    Did I miss anything? ; )

I’ve played them since the week they hit retail. And I’ll probably never play another iron shaft. Soooo good. Totally different animal than the 105 or 120. 125 feels similar. But flights different.

They are on the same launch characteristic level as PX 6.5 or 7.0. Except they get up quick then flatten out and go. Px tends to get up and apex and then fall.

I agree the 130 are smooth. But to me the 120 and 105 are noodles. As in I have trouble keeping them from just slinging everything left. 125 i could play. They just flight lower is all. The 130 has height. But easily can be flighted down. So you get both.

Can anyone compare these to KBS Tour V 120 X? Looking for something heavier, a little stiffer, and a little less spin. Considering these, C taper, tour v 130. Anyone have any experience playing a shaft profile like the modus 130/ tour v (stiff mid with rapid decline in stiffness toward the tip) tipped?

I’ve played the tour V 125 . I’d say the modus 130 is definitely lower spin than anything kbs except c taper. At least for me. Kbs spins a lot. Definitely stiffer feeling , while remaining smooth. Dispersion is night and day different ( for me ). I have a very late release and smooth tempo going back with a harsh transition if I’m going at it hard , if that helps.

Best bet is spend $35 or so and order a 7 iron shaft and build your 7 with it. You’ll know inside 10 swings.

I’ve been playing Tour V 120x for three years. I personally find the spin similar to Ctaper125+, but the launch is a touch higher and the feel is much nicer. I’ve never been sure why the Tour V isn’t a more popular choice for stronger players on this site, especially with the 125 and 130 versions available now.

I never actually gave the Modus 130 a chance. I’ve tried all of the Modus models except it. I really enjoyed the feel and trajectory of the Modus 125x but I spun them significantly more the the Tour V. The ball Just fell out of the sky into any kind of stiff breeze.

I may have to try Modus 130 one day just for the heck of it. If it resembles the Tour V I imagine I’d like it. The Modus line really does feel wonderful.

I think I need to look for a set. Your swing sounds pretty similar to mine. Fairly smooth going back but I slash at it though impact.

Many years of being a baseball power hitter in my swing before I picked up a golf club.

Nope. I came from px 6.5 and 7.0 and that was a major reason why I stayed initially. That and I picked up carry .

I took my Srixon 745/945 combo out today shafted with the 130x's and I absolutely loved them. Not sure why I went away from them back to tour issue x100's for a while. Dispersion is insanely good with the Nippon, and feel is as good as anything. For me they flight a bit higher overall, but I like that because if playing firm greens I can hit a higher ball if need be. Staying in the bag for a while!

OP..how was the feel vs the 1150X?

I have the 1150x in my backup set of irons but not 100% in love with the feel.

Yeah I like how anti-left the 1150X is, but it definitely doesnt have the same feel as the modus. I have a pretty quick transition and can get 6i up to 95ish and I have to really get after the 1150x to feel it load. Was thinking to try the 120TX or perhaps this 130X.

Gamers are the oban CT115x which are wonderful but dont wanna drop that coin for my backup set

The 130X were my go-to for a few years. They feel unbelievably smooth and the trajectory and spin are as advertised (high launch, low spin). The only reason I went back to Dynamic Gold was I struggled to feel the club head with the counterbalance, even with adding weight to the heads.
