New Irons - Help needed! (Ping G410 v Cobra F9)

Hello all! Help needed..

Back story.. Got back into golf after a long 20 year hiatus 5 years ago... Went back in with TM's and for the last 3 years i had been hitting the rbladez tours with stiff c-tapers... Golf had been pretty inconsistent, bad dispersion, fats, thins etc etc.. So i went on the hunt of some game improvers and ended up getting a set of used ping i25's (but they have DG extra stiff shafts)... I know i series isnt GI but felt the need to try something different... Game is improved, much more controlled, but given the x-stiff i feel that i really need to "step on them" to match the swing speed to the shaft... Current HCP has been between 18 and 22, currently on the decline from 22.

At the same time i have been for a few lessons with the club pro and he has sorted out my alignment and also given me some setup tips... Again, a major help and seen me scoring so much better with more consistency..

So! Given summer is coming, i feel the need to buy my first brand new set of clubs... I have narrowed it down to a choice of 2, Ping G410 and Cobra F9. Went to the golfshop today that has an outdoor range (fitted with trackman) to try them out. 7 iron on the Ping with the standard stiff was coming out at 178 average, and cobra coming out at about 172 (but it was taped, the ping wasnt taped).. dispersion pretty good from both! Ball flight on the pings was high, cobras were lower but still a great ball flight.

Price, cobras are a tad cheaper and come with connect, liked the sound and the look at address of the ping...

So, thats the dilemma... or are there others i should hit?

Also, at my HCP, still worth getting fit? Pretty sure stiff is right for me, but will i see a difference between different stiffs? And pretty sure i am black/blue on the ping colours. Most clubs i have bought in the past have been 2nd hand and straight off the shelf..

Thanks in advance for input, especially if those 2 were on your final choices and what did you go for? Or did you go with something different?

If you like the look and sound of the G410's, get the Pings. They'll last you a long time.

Agree with the above post as looks and sound go a long way towards confidence. I was looking at both and went F9 because I was hitting them more consistently. I could easily game the G410 and have owned G irons previously. The Arccos is a nice bonus, but that should not impact your decision unless it is a tie-breaker after considering all other factors. Also, don't underestimate the benefit of a good fitter.

I am right with you. Went in for a fitting. Was thinking Titleist AP1 or Ping G410. Came away planning to purchase a set of Cobra F9. Question - does anyone know how many irons I need to buy in order to get the full set of Arccos? I only need six irons, but Cobra shows a "standard" set as seven irons.

I demoed both last weekend and liked the F9 better. Distance was basically the same but my ball flight and dispersion was better with the F9.

I own some 410's and like them. No experience with the Cobra's so can't comment other than to say they look good. I was using Mizuno Hot Metal's for most of last year and have to say they feel better than the 410's if that means anything to you. Bounce is lower would be the main downside if you hit the ball heavy on a regular basis.

Dropped the hammer and ended up with the 410's and loving the way they play. My only slight grip is the noise they make in the bag (as i carry!) but i just keep the headcovers on a few of the clubs to keep them a little less noisy :)

G410...added bonus is PINGs hold their value better than any club. Cobra F9 will be worth a fraction of the value of G410.
